Didn't one of the celebs score in the low 80's? So I would venture to take your bet on someone shooting 9 under. Anyways, my vote is for Jim Furyk.

I am sure the greens were holding for the celebs, wait until the weekend rolls around, the course will be much tougher.

Some rain in the forecast - course may play longer, however, the greens may hold and the greens may be a bit slower.

I hope Sergio wins at -6.

Gonna be lots of rain so it will play about 500 yards longer but greens will hold more so my -9 pick is still a lock.No rough means easy course.

If its playing 500 yards longer, then that means we're talking about an 8000+ yard course. And you think -9 will be the final tally? WOW! Those guys must be good ;)

It's surprising that nobody mentioned David Toms...

I'll go out on a limb and pick my favourite golfer David Toms. He's finished 2nd place last week and he's 1st in Driving Accuracy.

Tiger said this morning that the greens will hold long irons or hybrids.

I have no idea who will win... but so much rain, and greens running only at 12 today... unless it firms up, a lot of guys could win. This could be a strange US Open.

I say the low 36-hole score will be lower in relation to par than the total winning score. 7-under will lead on Friday night, but 6-under will win.

I think the winner is in the 6 under - 10 under range; and that's not a knock on the course. I live 5 minutes from the course and have played it numerous times. It's too bad this will be the second time we're not seeing The Black with typical Long Island weather.

Anyway, here are the birdie holes:

#1 - Dogleg right par 4. Good tee shot will have these guys with an 8 iron going into the green.
#2 - Only par 4 under 400 yards. Put it in the fairway with an iron or 5-wood and they'll have a 6 or 7 iron up the hill.
#4 - The signature hole on The Black. Par 5, good drive of 300 will leave about 210 up the hill, over trouble to a green that slopes away. Still a birdie hole.
#6 - Par 4. Change on this one - 2002 it had two fairways the second being at the bottom of the hill for layups out of the rough. There is now just one fairway and a 300 yard drive will get a roll down a steep hill leaving 60-80 yards in.
#11 - Par 4. Tough green, but a good drive will leave a mid iron in.
#13 - Par 5. Added 50 yards to this one since 2002, 605 yards now. Two good shots will leave 100 going in.
#14 - Par 3. Shortest par 3 - maybe 150 yards. Huge green that can have some tough pins.

#s 15 - 18 are not birdie holes. If someone crosses the road from 14 to 15 on Sunday down 2 shots, they're toast.

I think there are up to seven birdie holes for these guys - and even one or two of those are debatable. I think someone can shoot 68 each day to get to 8 under - but even with the conditions, I don't see anyone (other than TW) going 66-68-67-68.

I'll go with 5 guys under par; winner at 7 under.

Besides For Tiger - I like rory mcilroy - My top five would be tiger, rory, furyk, Brian gay, and as a new yorker got to love phil

    • Thanks Bill, Really appreciate the tips! I'm hoping between side saddle putting and working on the Jim Venetos swing I'll drop some shots off my typically mid-90's score.
    • Thinking about seeing if our local course will make divot repair part of the annual youth camp….and I love @dennyjones comment to stick ‘em to the carts.   Sadly a lot of the older guys are not stable enough to bend down and make a good repair - so they just let them be or just do the putter tamp.  We also have one member who shuffles his way on and off the green - soft spike marks everywhere….
    • The lie is not really adjustable.  The PGA states that it must have at least 10 deg angle (not sure on the exact #) all of these putters came with the minimum allowable angle from vertical.  This is why the corners are beveled off.  The sole of the club is not intended to sit flat on the ground. Having said all this, the only way to change the angle is to bend the silver piece that the shaft is glued in to. In use: 1. Hold the putter with your top hand and let it dangle 2. the beveled edge will be the closest part to the ground 3. place bottom hand much like holding a pencil 4.  Club should swing forward and back freely but not hit your foot.  If it does then you need to move you top hand outward. 5. Do not manipulate the club path. straight forward and back 6. I keep my top hand tight on the putter.  My bottom hand twists the putter counter clockwise against my top hand.  This keeps the face from opening up. Good luck.  I have been using mine for close to 10 years.  I average 1.7 putts/hole (yes I have statistics on every hole I play) Bill
    • Day 29 (19 Feb 25) - Winter storm in place (here it's cold icy rain), inside day today - started with mirror work and 8i - working on weight shift sequence using shortened swing (backswing to P3) and coming through to P8.  Focused on sensing the shift to the lead foot as I get toward P3 and then coming through smoothly.  Followed up those series of rehearsals with some easy lag putts working to equalize backswing length with downswing finish to 3' - 5' - 8' distances.
