Just thought I'd share a little funny story with you good folks. At LB Houston in Dallas...the muni next to the rifle range (world famous for simulating golf in warzone they say) I hit a massively fat shot off the tee with my 19*h and it somehow bounced off the ladie's tee marker and flew over a little stream 20 yards to the left of us, bounced off a tree, then somehow landed in a patch of bundled lawn mower clippings a good 10-15 yards forward. I had to walk over a rusty bridge to my ball. Anyways, with the same hybrid in hand I gave it a good wack, and it through the trees and left me with enough shots to save par.

Anyways, just wanted to see if anyone else had fun stories about lousy tee shots that turned into a nice result. Then again, maybe no one is as bad a golfer as I am.

Hit my drive about 260 or so and it hits on the right side of a hill bounding to the right and into a pond. The hole is a dogleg right par 5. Took my drop and cut the corner with a 5 iron to 4 feet. Sank the putt.

Just a routine birdie

Golfing with a client once, on a short par 4 that is shaped like a U, with the tee on one side and the green on the other. I always hit a 3 wood to the bottom of the U as it is the only flat spot on the hole but I completely chunked a 3 wood about 40 yards just off the ladies tees, with 3 wood still in hand, absolutely smoked it to just off the front of the green, and chipped in for a birdie.

The only one that stands out was a routine little par on a par 5.....

......following the OB tee shot.

Although I've never even seen an ace, I've witnessed two separate buddies hit a ball into the water off the tee on a par 3, then re-tee and knock their next one into the jar!

I've done that 3 times.. and yet only gotten an eagle (with a putt) on a par 5 once

Didn't hit my first on a par 3 into the water but chunked a pw about 5 feet forward and with the same pw holed out with one bounce. Strangest birdie I ever made.

I was playing with a friend, and this is how he made par on a difficult par 3:
  1. Thin hook over the green, into the woods (the woods was not OB) coming to rest under deep grass and brush.
  2. Hack with a 6-iron, ball squirts out of the woods and stops (from his perspective) right of the green. He now has a mature tree and sand trap between him and the hole.
  3. Before he hits, he tells me he's going to hit a punch that glances off a lower branch, hit the upslope from the trap, and roll onto the green. Sure enough, he executes it perfectly and it rolls into the hole.

Par 4 dogleg right. Drove right into the trees about 100 yards. three-metal from the trees, leaves, undergrowth, and at least 30 trees between me and my ridiculously aggressive line. Best 3-metal of my life, through it all to within chipping range of the green. Saved double-bogey.

A few years ago, at the big tournament for our area, a local judge blew a shot over a green on a par 3, hit a tree, then rolled 40 yards backwards into the hole to win a Jeep. The killer was the tournament forgot to get the insurance, but the judge still got his Jeep.

My swing thoughts:

- Negative thinking hurts more than negative swinging.
- I let my swing balance me.
- Full extension back and through to the target. - I swing under not around my body. - My club must not twist in my swing. - Keep a soft left knee

I pulled one of my tee shots last week into a bunch of trees about 240 yards away it bounced off the side of one and took a huge kick out into the middle of the fairway.

They say golf is like life, but don't believe them. Golf is more complicated than that.

i hit a lot of crappy tee shots, but for some reason I know how to get out of trouble pretty well and end up with a decent score. weird how things work out...

Hooked one down the hill to the parking lot ontop of a median with unclipped grass. (about 70 feet downhill from the teebox, 55ish back up to the green) Played it anyways and pulled out a 7 iron and gave it another 30 yard hook up the hill and put it 6 ft from the hole for bird.

Happens to me all the time. I hit enough horrible tee shots that I get a lot of practice at doing that sort of thing.

Me too. Only now that I have been in the fairway pretty consistently, I am unable to execute amazing shots and still end up with pars and bogeys.

On a 170 yard par 3 that required about a 155 yard carry over a pond, I hit a really fat tee shot into the middle of the pond. I re-teed and hit my next shot just as fat into the pond but it bounced off a manhole cover for an overflow drain and the ball rolled up to about 4-inches from the cup. The ball had a massive cut from the drain so after saving bogey, I threw the ball back in the pond. It just seemed right.

I have two worst tee shots. The first one I hit the ball low, it hit the rock marking the ladies tee and bounced up behind me into the backyard of a house. So basically, the shot ended up about 100 feet behind the tee box in a backyard.

The second one, I was teeing off on the 10th hole just outside the clubhouse, my 10 year old son was standing about 20 feet away at a 90 degree angle to the way I was facing. I hit the ball, it went straight at him and hit him in the stomach. He grapped his stomach and fell down like he had been shot. A marshall saw the whole thing happen and came out of the clubhouse to ask if he was alright.

For me, the best part was my son was okay and now has a story he can tell the rest of his life, also, we still had a fun day golfing.
