Tees

Reading the front page article "Accessorize.." got me thinking about tees. Do the specialized new tees actually make a big difference?

The old school wooden ones have worked fine for so long - but if there is something better I'd be willing to give it try. The "science" behind them at least makes sense.

I found one of the zero friction tees and truthfully I didn't notice any difference, but my playing partner did like it. I'm interested in trying one of the brush tees, but again, does it actually do anything?

Ive tried those brush tees before but they dont last very long, brushes get worn out and wont hold the ball up, constantly trying to keep the ball from falling off. I usually just use the old wooden tees, i doubt the zero friction tees make a noticeable difference. I pretty much get one shot out of a tee before I break it or lose it so I just get whatever is cheapest.

I used the zero friction tees because I got a deal on them. They are tall and skinny, and because of this they break very easily. I usually get one swing out of them and then they chip a bit if not break in 2 pieces. I haven't really noticed too big a difference however it may add confidence on the tee

My take is that it is all marketing hype. My game is not good enough to notice the difference. If it was that good, the pros would be the first to jump on the bandwagon.

I use zero friction tees not because I think they'll help me hit the ball better but because for me, they are impossible to break. It's nice only have to carry a couple tees in your pocket and not have to go searching in the bag like I had to do almost every hole when I used wood tees. I'm sure other people don't have that problem but for me zero friction tees are a conveniance that I've gotten used too.

That's why I use them too. I'll use one for a hundred tee shots or more before it'll break. It is nice to have 2 or 3 tees only in your pocket.

Couldn't care less about the "added distance." Don't care or know if it exists. Just like that they don't break.

I just use 2.5 inch wood tees. I only use those for my driver and I stick basically the tip into the ground so incase I catch it too low, it won't snap. I lose more than I break now-a-days. I did pick up a couple zero friction tees and did like that they didn't break very easily, but I find less attatchment to those little wooden ones which are like 3 or 4 bucks for 150 of them.

I only go with the wooden 2 3/4 inch tees. I break them but they are cheap anyway and I dont mind buying them. The zero friction tees dont seem to change my tee shots at all when I tried one I found.

The plastic zero friction tees are wonderful. I would buy a bunch if I could find'em. However, the wood ones splinter on me in very short order. In dry conditions they might last two holes for me. Might...

Out of all the "specialty" tees, I like the stinger tees, but I haven't bought any more since my supply ran out months ago. It's just not worth it.

well since i managed to break all my brush tees (they lasted a good 2 seasons)...
ive been using zero friction tees lately...
i have a love hate thing going with tees right now...
brush tees are great cuz they give you a consistent tee height and last awhile... but once they start going it gets really frustrating trying to put a ball on top of one of those things

zero friction tees are great cuz they last forever... but they are pretty skinny and when you have a hard teebox its a real pain getting those things in the ground... plus i have to put my driverhead beside it to measure tee height

regular wooden tees... you cant beat the price... but... they break really easy and its best to have diff sizes... they also leave marks on your driver face if you get diff colored ones

im still gonna buy a new set of brush tees... but i can hold off for the rest of the season without them cuz i have a bag full of zero friction and regular tees

i agree with flop i personally prefer orange brush tees,o and a downside to zero friction tee top of them seem to stab me alot while in my pocket.

My club pro recently handed me 3 of the Zero Friction tee's right before I went out to play a round. I like them, but not for a change in distance or control, I just like the fact that they do not break. I've been using the same one now for 3 weeks. They're a little more expensive, but I think it's worth it.

+1 for the zero fiction tees and the fact they last longer than the wooden tees and are harder to break.

If everyone copied your example there wouldn't be any little tee bits sitting in front of the tee boxes, and I would have

nothing to use on par 3's. Next thing you're going to tell me is to bring my own, and I don't want to hear it.

Exactly the same reason I use the Epoch tees. I bought a bag at the start of the year, have played somewhere around 80 rounds, and have at least enough to last me the rest of the year. I'd have more if my regular playing partner didn't need to borrow one every round.

I've broken exactly one. I lose them sometimes, and I've had a few "wear out"-the edges of the top get rounded over and a ball has a hard time sitting up there. But yeah, I enjoy the simple fact that I can throw one tee in my pocket and go.

I find painted tees last longer the the wood colour tees. I like to play with the tee with little painted line on them as I find it helps me tee it up to a the same height each time. I average about 3/4 of round with one tee

I've played last round with these tees and they're so great. I only needed one throughout all the round, and you don't have to bother yourself about the teeing level, it's just the same distance from the ground every time. This equals more consistency.

I just use smallish wooden tees. I only put the very tip in the ground when I hit driver and don't seem to break them all that often when I tee up an iron or hybrid. I agree that longer wooden tees break way too easily but it's not an issue with the smaller ones.
