The week prior I had played in a tournament at a par-3 course and fared well finishing in 5th. The golf captain of my home course also happened to be playing in that tournament, in fact he was playing in the group ahead of me and later commented to me on how impressed he was with my game.

The next week was the monthly golf tournament at our home course. For this event, the golf captain decides on his playing partners. He included me to his group, which consisted of himself (3 handicap) and two players who were around the same calibre. I had recently gone from a 8 handicap to a 6 handicap.

I start off dbl bogey, dbl bogey, bogey, dbl bogey, dbl bogey, that's +9 in the first five holes...it was an ugly +9, shanking every approach shot (I mean off of the hosel!!), including the tee shots on two par-3's. I finished off shooting a 90...I hadn't shot over 85 in the 4 years prior. These guys are shooting in the mid 70's and must have been really shocked/annoyed watching me shank a ball 90 degrees into the bush from the middle of the fairway at the frequency I did. The round couldn't end soon enough. At least the weather was good.

My most embarrasing round was, in some ways, one my best. The day I got my first ace, I also managed to score every other number from 3 through 8, which comprised every score from ace on up through QUAD!

Nothing in the swing is done at the expense of balance.

my most embarissing round was at a local tourney,it was handicap flighted and while i was a 5 managed to shoot a 81 after the 5 stroke deduction so an 86 and i was driving the ball wonderfully couldnt hit an aproach hit 1 green in reg. and i left my short game at the house.that was a bad day.

I always caddy for rich old folks. Sometimes though, I give my commentary on how he hit the shot. The best example is the 7th hole at my course, which is a short par 3 almost entirely over water. The guy hits it, and it ends up in the fringe at the back of the green. He was pretty much declaring himself Jesus Woods, and I told him I could do better. I hit my first ball ever into that water hazard.

I played in a traveling tournament group (handicap/net) a few years back and we played a resort course in South Jersey. Leading up to that tournament, I had been playing okay (for me) and shooting between 100 and 104 gross (about 73-77 net).

I was on the range that morning and felt pretty good about my swing. Having been fairly new to the group, the guy who ran the club asked me how I thought I'd do and then if I'd like to wager on it. I told him that I felt I'd break 100 that day, and that, yes... I'd put $50 up that said I could.

It was the worst round of my career. I couldn't get the ball more than 24 inches off the turf for the first 5 holes and didn't hit a tee shot further than 150 yards all day long. Ended up turning in a 127 (net 101) and finished in dead last place.

Humbly turned in my score card with $50 attached to it.

By far the most embarrassing round I've played.

Before my first league year, the new guys go out and play a round to get some idea of a handicap for league purposes. Having not golfed in years, was just a little bit nervous. Tee shot on 1 hooked it way left. 2nd shot about 10 yards, divot went 30. Finished the hole in 12 on the way to a 9 hole score of 65. Thankfully nothing even close to that since, and shaved 8 strokes off my HC since then.

Hahahaha no offense dude, but you were really asking for it.

My most embarrassing round was my first 18 hole round ever with my friend. Never played 18 before, hadn't been to the driving range in almost a year, but some how felt I could handle 18. Big mistake. First tee, I push-slice my first ball in to the woods. The other 2 guys we got paired with said ehh what ever take another. Second ball, push-slice into the woods into the exact same spot. It was a longgggg day haha.

I was about 17 and on a trip to Scotland with my mother (some decades ago, ahem). I was in no way a golfer, not even a hacker (tennis and squash player). My mother used to play fairly regularly tho'. Anyway, she hit a real fountain ball off the 1st tee (5 or 10 yards) and I fluffed mine a short distance as well, forget how exactly. I was mortified for the both of us, being a naïve and impressionable young chap.

Our golf didn't get much better but after a while we relaxed and didn't care so much. The wonder of the place took over, and besides we weren't the only hackers there I noticed ......

It was an altogether special sort of day. *sigh*

i was really full of myself at my home course since the day before i shot a career round of 77...
the next day i was paired up with some out of towners on their first time to the course... i asked them what teebox's they were gonna play and i proudly announced that i usually play the teebox behind them but for that day id play with them...
i promptly birdied the first hole while my partners were bogey bogey double...
i thought for sure i was going to shoot low 70's or even par... maybe threaten an under par round...
you could hear my head inflating especially when i overhear "this guys good" "wow what a shot"...
needless to say it went down hill from there... i found water that wasnt in play... punched out of the left woods to the right woods... i had sand in my socks from being in bunkers all day... 3 putted from 2ft... my 52* was overshooting greens and my 6i was short short... i think i lost a dozen balls that day...
that was the most embarassing round of golf iver ever had and put my ego in check real fast

At the club tournament , we have short gun start and i have to start from hole no 7 which is my nightmare hole.

I hit a +5 at this particular hole and it tore my confidence for the remaining 17 holes.

My caddy cant believe i shot 89 on that day, as he has caddied for me for the 10 times before the game which i shot all in the 70s.

It was the darkest day of my golfing day.

My most embarrassing round was one of my first this season. I was playing with some friends for the first time and there was a lot of trash talking going on leading up to the outing. I started off really well and then just fell apart. By the midway through the back 9 I felt like I didn't even know how to swing the club. Of course I was trying way too hard by that time. So I end up scoring something like 120 while they all shoot mid 80s, low 90s. Yikes.

2 years ago i played in the mens open at my course i grew up playing on
hadnt been home in a while and saw a lot of old good freinds and guys i used to golf with

next day is qualifying and sunny and beautiful

shot gun start, started on hole 5 (210yd par 3) - started w a double
needless to say i flighted my self in the 3rd last flight w a 92

i was flighted w a bunch of dudes that were truly out of their element playing against me
i won my first match after 10 holes!
the rest of the tourney, we didnt golf past 12 holes
everyonw was so pissed at me and i felt sooo embarassed

the club pro expected me to be in the championship or worst 1st flight...not the case

    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
    • Day 128 12-18 Worked on rotation and getting to lead side. Still working on the flow feeling while doing that. Recorded swings.
    • IMO-the only thing entertaining was the relay race. Everything else was excruciatingly boring...or just  stupid, like the 14-club thing. Watching guys blade wedges into the water over and over is not at all interesting.
