Someone on our high school golf team has a built-in high powered magnet in his hat. He takes it off his hat marks his ball, and then just throws it back somewere near his head and it attaches back to the magnet. It's pretty funny to watch.

I just use whatever change I have in my pocket.

I had one of those hat clip things, but the magnet came unglued and the marker fell off with the magnet attached. Now I just have the clip...lol

I wonder if having a magnet on your hat is like having a Trion:Z on your wrist!?!

I rarely wear shorts to play golf, but my one pair of golf shorts has very deep and "meshy" pockets (they go almost down to the bottom of the shorts, the pockets do, and I don't wear LPGA-style short shorts), so I try to use a hat clip when I wear those shorts because I hate having to reach so far to get my coin(s) out.

No. It just seems too dorkey somehow to me. You bring up another good point about attire... Here in the hot south, we wear shorts most of 6 to 8 months to play. There are a few guys at my club that still wear regular pants all summer. You can see them out there struggling along. I always have a tan that extends from my knees to my ankles and halfway up my biceps to my finger tips. It looks like I am still wearing ankle socks when I have on no socks.

I wear pants until it hits about 90. The pants I have are pretty thin and the breezes we get go right through them, so it's more like they "keep my legs in the shade" all day than anything.

But on a wind-less day (rare) that reaches 90+, I tend to go for shorts. Anyway, back to topic...

... There's nothing wrong with wearing shorts ..

But wearing a pair that have been thru the wash 200 times, still have tranny fluid on them, 3 sizes too small and they went out of style in 1985 should be banned from the planet.... I guess I'll never understand how some players wear golf shoes that look like they've been in the French Foreign Legion since Charles de Gaulle was in office -- what.? no pride in appearance...?
Whats in the bag.?

I have a bunch of old game tokens that I use, size of a quarter and gold. I tend to lose ball markers so these are a good choice for me.

I'll use any ball marker I can find in my bag - have various plastic ones from various golf courses, have some bogeypro plastic ones - have loonies and toonies (canadian coins,) and quarters.

Though I just bought a 'gclip' and it comes with a magnetic one. I'm getting tired of digging in my pocket for tees, ball markers, divot repair tools etc. and tired of stuffing my glove into my back pocket - so looking forward to trying out my new gadget - I think it's a great design!

If I am playiig a friendly money match I use the tonnie throughout as a small distraction. Normally a quarter or dime.

To mark my ball on the green, I use a Casino dollar. Other members I play with call it a man-hole cover. I have never lost it on a green tho. It pretty much stands out.

I would hang on to that one. They are kinda rare over here!

Funny thing is I lost it about a year ago and called them up and had a new one shipped to me.

I use my battalion coin from when I was in the service. The only issue I ever run into is that it's fairly large so I end up having to move it from time to time.

I've got both. I never thought of it, but I'm an 84 Lumber logo away from looking like any random PGA player.

I was using a 2$ Canadian coin for a few years. Thanks to this thread, I now know it is called a Toonie.

My friend just gave me one of the hat things from the Olypic Club, where he is a member. I have started using it, and I have to admit that it is very convenient. I hope to play Olympic on September 1st when I visit CA. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the Lake Course...let's see if it pans out.

    • Akshay Bhatia beat him in a playoff last year I think. He went something like -7 on his last 7 holes to get into a playoff and then rinsed a wedge on the 1st extra hole in a way that would have made Tommy (and Rory) blush.
    • Tristan, did you end up getting the new Edel wedges?  I'm very about due for new wedges.  I was trying other configurations a few years ago and somehow my 54 and 58 are both hand-me-downs that I never got around to getting as new and fitted, and my last new-as-in-new wedges were Ping Glides a long time ago.  I was thinking of Edel wedges earlier today, although their website seems to list only two fitters.   Did you end up getting them, and if so, what do you think of them?
    • @colin007, in terms of realistic sci-fi, its the best ever. They actually had an astrophysicist consult on the movie to be as accurate as possible with what we know about the universe.  For like dystopian, Blade Runner is probably king. Action/suspense is probably Alien/Aliens. Though Starship Troopers is fantastic. The Matrix is amazing.
    • Day 4 (August 14).  Full swing in my indoor practice room;  6-iron, off a mat, into a net.  Focus was on what I believe was my priority piece at last lesson (which, admittedly, was almost three years ago, due to absence).  I hit about a dozen balls this morning before going into the office.  (Also, errata to yesterday:  9 of the 12 coins were picked up on the second or third go around -- you can't pick up one on the first go around for that drill)
    • Watched The Gentlemen, took a little bit to get into it, but very good Guy Ritchie movie.  Collin Farrell and Hugh Grant were great. Give it a birdie.
