I seem to have a problem where I cut across the ball somewhat, producing a fade. It's not too bad, but it takes a little more distance off my shots than I'd like. Would trying to hit the inside of the ball help this?
It's about a 10-20 yard fade. If it was only a couple yards I wouldn't mind.

Well, I wasn't fading the ball significantly at any point in my time playing, but when I started trying to hit the inside, I started producing baby draws (with the occasional adult one). So it's probably worth a try.

its ok as long as you make sure you still follow through properly. When I was fighting a huge over the top problem, I started "forcing" myself to swing more inside to out. Then I got into the habit of hitting HUGE pushes. Once I got myself following through properly, started hitting nice draws. Now I just have to learn to control it.

I have found hitting the inside of the ball helps create more of a draw.
However, the best thing to do is put a tee infront of the ball and behind it (to make a line inside to out)
Then try to swing over these tees while hitting the ball; this should help you get out of that fade swing

And remember, though "hitting the inside of the ball" is a great visual or mental image, you still end up hitting the back of the ball. To truly hit the inside your clubface would need to be open. A clubface that's square to the target line and swinging from even 45 degrees from the inside is still going to hit the back of the ball.

It is a good idea as a drill. The thought helps some in getting a feel for swinging from the inside. You may find yourself hitting some good shots initially. But there are usually some other fudamental to fix so don't expect it to be a cure all. Just another step in understanding the swing better.

Act like it's baseball. For a righty, you need to try and push the ball into right field. Put the ball just a little bit more in the inside of your stance, and that will help as well.

This very mental image effectively fixed my slice, and helped me hit draws. After 15 or so range sessions with a tee directly behind the ball, my ballflight went from big slice to tiny draw.

Also, my slice was caused by being over the top, with a bent left elbow, so I've had to work on this as well.

think of a clock. Say your target (where you're aiming) is 12 oclock. try to have your follow through go towards 12:30 or maybe even 1 oclock, with an aggressive release.

To do this you must approach the ball from the inside.

I've had to work on fixing my slice as well, and I've worked on coming from the inside. One thing I'd point out is that in envisioning a more in-out swing path, bringing your club back too far to the inside can in fact set you up to rotate at the top of your swing and come even more from over the top. You can't think only about bringing it back inside and then releasing to 12:30 or whatever. You have to envision the whole swing path and make sure you keep the club inside a bit on the downswing as well.

    • It feels like Rory blew his load on the 18th at Augusta. Maybe everyone is underestimating how much that took out of him. Watching McGinley whaling in 'Roaddie' for not stopping by to talk to the press was bit of drag. The dude has given so many interviews and so much of himself over the years, he outghta be able to play with house money sometimes. Jeez, leave him the fak alone.
    • Some positives playing in league tonight.  1st) Making the backswing a more lateral shift, and feeling the left leg and torso resist the turn at the top of the swing is helping out a lot. I got to feel an uncomfortable amount of pause in the backswing to set up the downswing.  2) I need to do a bit of more arm stuff better. Still too much draw or pull draws for my liking.  3) Short game is getting sharp. Many tap-ins tonight. I am trying to make the shortest backswing possible for the shot. It really forces me to stay aggressive with the pivot.

    • Shame to see Rory crash on the back nine. Nice to Spieth play well. Looking forward to seeing Brooks collapse…😂
    • Day 255 - 2025-06-12 Played 18 holes. Started to over-do the crap out of my thing for holes 9-15 a bit, then refreshed it and finished out really well.
