How far do you travel to reach your home course?

Been a member this past year at my home course and really loved it. The only downside is getting there.

The only downside is the drive there. I turn out of my neighborhood and stay on the same road to reach the main gate of the military base (~15 miles)...and then it's 5-7 miles from there. The delays are that the single road to get there is very heavliy used (school buss delays/lunch hour/rush hours) and the traffic on base is very heavily regulated with the understandable security check in (random car search) and enforced speed limit 25mph-40mph.

I generally allow 45 mins to get there.

The good news is that no matter busy the course is on any given day, the pace of play is fast. I can usually leave home, play 18 and return in under 6 hours.

Membership renewal date is soon approaching and I'm considering other options.

There is a really nice bentgrass green course that is much nearer (10-15min drive) home. I love their fast greens. There are only 18 holes and it's a hilly residential layout. Pace of play is a tad longer in my experiences there. Walking it is certainly more of a challenge. That's okay, because burning more calories is what I need.

Mine is about 20 miles away. It's a two lane Hwy drive thru the country to get there.

Upon moving down here back in the late 90's I joined a nice course that was under 5 mins from home. It was awesome being that close. I was spoiled by that short drive....didn't even have time to get any tunes going.

15 minutes? I could easily move closer, but as much as I love my golf, I'd rather live within walking distance to campus, where I attend and work.

My favorite coruse is about 10 minutes from the house. The roads are never busy around there. It is only a 9 hole course though. I still love it.

I am a lucky duck, my club is 2 min drive from home and a 15minute walk or a 5min bike ride.

The downside is I have to drive by it to get anywhere so I am often tempted to stop and hit some shots

About a 12 minute drive. The fact that it was close was one of the reasons I joined, that and the fact that it has the best greens of any course in the city.

About 10 minute drive. I would hate to drive much further than that given the number of times per week Im out there.

Travel to my home course takes 15 minutes after traffic picks up... 10 minutes when I go before rush hour.

There are 2 other courses which are closer to home (one is less than 5 minutes), but one of them I don't care for the layout and the other just costs more than I'll pay for my regular golf.

my neighborhood course is walking distance but my 'home' course is 15-20 mins away depending on traffic...

neighborhood course is lined with houses... dont like playing there too much unless i dont wanna drive somewhere else...
'home' course has no houses... better staff... play is much faster... alot more reasons why the drive is worth it

Hey rjal4296......you must mean World Woods!...great course...played it in June.

The closest course is a resort - Saddlebrook .....just 1/2 mile away.

I regularly play Pebble Creek, which is about 7 miles away....a ten minute drive on Saturday mornings.
