Not sure what to add in my bag anymore, here's what I plan on adding:

-Cleveland Niblick
-Nike SV Tour Wedge 60/10
-a Fairway wood or another hybrid.

My clubs are in my signatures...

Knowing what I know now, given your bag, I would add a 16.5* fairway wood (4 wood) and get a good sand wedge. That would probably be more than enough for you for now.

SQ 5900 - 9.5*
Burner 15* and 18*
MT 20* Hybrid
CG Gold 4-PW CG14 52.10 SM 56.14 IC 20-10a 34" Putter SDF balls (was on sale)

Great answer. A 60* wedge is one of the last things you should add to your bag, if ever. But you should have a sand wedge.

At my current level, I barely feel that I am ready to add a gap wedge to my bag. Definitely don't think I need a 60* yet, or should even poison myself with one right now. I always thought I needed a full set of wedges because salesmen would tell me I needed them without even asking me about my game. During the last few weeks though, my ball striking and distance with my short irons have been really consistent, and I am actually getting frustrated with the gap between my PW and 56*, about a 20-25 yard gap since my PW is a "strong loft."

So gap wedge is next for me, then later on down the line I will consider a 60*. I might buy one now and mess around with it at the range/chipping green, but I probably wont play it until I get my handicap down more and feel comfortable having that option in my bag.

I just started playing golf last year and got a 60* wedge. I love that thing. It gives me confidence around the green. I pretty much use my sand wedge or pitching wedge for everything else. I just feel like I can get out of the worst lie with the 60* when close around the green.

Is your handicap really 36.0?

Why? Short game, length off the tee, shots randomly travelling sideways into the wilds? It's hard to recommend what you should add, based on just your existing clubs and bag. If it was my bag and my game, I'd add a 3-wood, a lower bounce sand wedge (I wouldn't get a 60* wedge with more than 6* bounce - but that's just me).

Do you know the distances you hit each club? When you keep score if you track of the following stats below it might help see what club you need.

1) Putts per round
2) Scrambling to save par or one putt
3) Greens hit
4) Fairways hit
5) Sand saves

I would add another wedge to help with the short game.

Titleist 910 D2 9.5 Driver
Titleist 910 F15 & 21 degree fairway wood
Titleist 910 hybrid 24 degree
Mizuno Mp33 5 - PW
52/1056/1160/5

Hard to just recommend a club with no idea how the rest of your game is. What do you struggle with? Hitting greens? Approaches from 200+ yards? What are you looking to improve? Golf isn't quite like the infomercials, you can't just buy the newest product and think you'll start shooting in the 60s.

My advice is to play as much as you can, learn your swing and come to terms with what you feel is your weakest part of your game, that's when you should be looking at clubs. /two cents.

    • The chatter in my brain is when the distance is between clubs since I am pretty weak at shortened backswings, etc. I try to simply decide if being long or short is the better outcome and choose my club based on that and simply not even try for the “real” distance.  For me a full normal swing is what I strive for.
    • I saw this comment made in a golf article... "Most golfers stand over a 4- or 5-iron still negotiating with themselves. They think about how hard to swing, whether they have the right club, if they have the aim correct and more. It’s a lot to deal with and long irons punish the “half-in” golf swing." I am not sure the "most golfers" is correct regarding the bolded part. I can understand if there is a bunker, water, and/or OB that a lot of golfers would be fixated on that. I am not sure that leads to ending up more times there. Pending your level in golf, the variance is so large in outcomes, it could be just with in the expected outcomes. I can understand if have a big lake on the right side of the hole being one of the most terrifying shots for right-handed amateur golfers.  I am not sure many golfers are standing over the ball talking to themselves, "Ok, maybe I should step back and pull the 4-iron. Am I lined up right? Oh, the wind came up, should I swing harder? What am I going to have for dinner tonight, maybe steak. (Joking, somewhat 😛)" A question is that how much chatter do you get while standing over the ball. Are you questioning the everything about your golf shot?
