Is your tee still standing?

I have noticed that many pros barely touch the tee on drives, at least it appears that way, as the tees are exactly in place following their swings. I find that if I am not breaking a tee on every drive, that I have whacked it out of the ground, and I need to search the tee box for it.

Just wondering if it really matters. And yes, I realize what the ball does is more important than what the tee does.

My tee tends to stay in the ground, but is leaning a little foreward. I wouldnt worry about it too much if your tee comes out of the ground.

It is a very good indicatior of the quality of strike with the driver. If it breaks that means you hit down on it (bad with driver, too much spin). When I am driving it well I don't break tees. I don't think them coming out of the ground is so bad, but if you break them you are losing yardage and not having a level or ascending strike with the driver.

Nah. Drivers have faces of different depths and tees and the ground conditions vary too much to say things like that.

Also not really true. More than half the PGA Tour players hit down (slightly - I'm not talking about a lot) with their drivers.

My tees are the kind that don't break, so sometimes they flick up and sometimes they stay there and sometimes they flip forwards or backwards. The coolest ones are when they hit the shaft of the driver well into my follow-through. I even had a tee go down the back of my shirt once.

I one time had tee fall into my hand. I hit the shot and there was a tree on the right and overhanging a little. The tee got caught in the tree and when i went looking for it it fell right in my hands. I couldn't replicate that if i tried.

a few months back I started hitting my driver really well and started to notice on the bottom of my driver there would be something like skid marks from the tee on a good drive, but typically the tee stayed in the ground and was leaning foward.

For me, I guess it all depends. When its teed down low, for irons and such, the tee stays put. For my driver or FW, I use Tomahawk tees and they just fall forward.

When the other guy hit from the tee, it didn't break, it flew forward into some rough grass. He was worried he wouldn't be able to find it. Someone asked him why he was worried, it was one tee. He answered, "I've had that tee for 7 years."

He would use tees until they rotted essentially.

Mine are always standing in the ground leaning forward but i put alot of spin on the ball i need to get fitted right for a shaft!!!!!unless i hit a relaxed shot

Yeah, what the tee does after impact doesn't matter. Unless it comes up and hits you in the face (which is possible, I assure you).

That is what many of my tee's do when I hit the driver. I use the orange Zero Friction Tee's and they usually fly up in the air after I swing. Now with irons it's a differnt thing, they are mostly laid over forward into the diviot, if not broken off, which is why I usally find a good broken one and use it for any iron, Fairway wood shots off the tee

It depends on whether the ground is soft or hard, but my tee usually flies out of the ground. Luckily I use a lot of broken tees, so if I don't see where it went - meh.

The best drivers don't hit down with there drivers at all (I wouldn't call tiger a great driver of the ball). The amount of downward strike is very minimal at tour. I use cheap wood tees. If it breaks I can assure you that I hit a bad drive. I agree flying up is no big deal but if you break your tees you are losing alot of yardage.

I don't really want to get into it - it's off-topic (I'll start another topic on this), but that's simply not true. I didn't use Tiger as an example, but if you want one, here: Sergio strikes down with his driver and he's one of the best drivers out there. Note that Sergio will often scuff the turf in front of his tee when he's driving the ball well, and you'd have to hit down on the driver slightly as low as he tees the ball or he'd be drop-kicking every other tee shot. His tee height keeps gets lower as his driving improves.

I never said it was a lot. In fact, I think I said it was a small amount. But it's there, it's downward, and a lot more PGA Tour golfers than you think do it that way.

I'm fairly certain it's largely about swing speed.
