  1. 1. Based on what you know, do you think you'll buy an Apple Tablet in early 2010?

I don't believe I will be. I don't think I'll need one based on what I've heard about it.

It's real, and it's not going to cost $2k. Less than 1.

Good poll.

I work in the Tech space... I've been following this for a while ( along with all the other tablet devices being launched this year ). IMO at an estimated price point of $800 I think that I will be jumping in to one...

...We'll see what happens at the press event this Wednesday.

I have had my iMac for a little over three years now and it still does the trick for me, but as my son gets older and uses it more, we were going to buy a second computer; either a MacBook Pro or another iMac. I am interested to see the tablet and what it does before I make my decision on a new purchase.

I didn't vote because i won't be buying one because i have no money, not because i don't want one or don't think i'll use it. I think Apple will try to make it like a giant iPod, and i just have a feeling in wont be am earth-changing device. For what ever reason i don't think they'll make it stylus-compatible, though i'm speculating. I dunno, they've surprised me before, why not now?

Suffice to say: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I think it would have been awesome if they had pioneered a new way to deliver magazine subscriptions. I hate killing trees and dealing with the recycling of magazines (or, worse, the storage). I hate that you can't copy/paste from a magazine, etc.

I see that as a missed opportunity.

It's nice to know that my speculation came true (though not entirely, i saw a stylus at the Apple store recently that you cant use with iPhones, so i'd bet you could use it with the iPad( ugghh, weird name, bring back the iBook or PowerBook, way better than iPad, or MacBook/ MacBook Pro IMO). Still, you can't write stuff by just writing on the screen, and thats all i would want a tablet for. I am however looking to buy a Wacom tablet attachment. About $100 and something i might actually use)

Could not agree with you more Erik. I was really let down during the press event yesterday. I had high hopes for what the iPad could have been.

I think it is so unfortunate that Apple has not yet understood that their 'closed source' culture is slowly killing their business ( with the exception of Apple Fanboys )... They are really opening the door for the Google's of the world and their 'open' devices.

Uh, I disagree with that entirely. But I'll leave it at that, as that's not really the topic here.

For about a year, I was in the market for a Kindle DX because I have tons of pdfs and ebooks. If the iPad were priced at $799 or so, as many pundits suggested, I would have been priced out. Watching the vidcast, I anxiously awaited what Jobs had to say after the $ slide. $499, for Apple is very surprising, so yes, I'll be getting a tablet.

Don't see any golf uses for it right now other than reading golf material or surfing this site, but as Jobs said, it works as an in-between product. To me me, anyways. I own 3 Apple products and 3 Windows products. This will split the tie.

Not at first, anyway.

I use my iPhone for much of what I'd use the iPad for...at least for now.
909D Comp 9.5* (house MATRIX OZIK XCON-6)
Burner Superfast 3 & 5 woods (house MATRIX OZIK XCON-4.8)
G15 Hybrid 23* (AWT shaft)
G5 5 iron-PW-46*, UW-50*, SW-54 & LW-58 (AWT shaft)
Studio Select Newport 2 Mid SlantGrips: PING cords & Golf Pride New Decade Multi-Coumpound Bag: C-130...

I can see this (or something like it) becomeing the future of personal computing. How well it will sync up with a more powerful home desk top set up that provides it with external data storage and even more muscle perhaps. If it could run apps on your desk top and let you access all that at home, while being powerful enough as a portable device to stand alone that'd be really cool. I'm eager to see just how far Apple can take this...

Nike Vapor Speed driver 12* stock regular shaft
Nike Machspeed 4W 17*, 7W 21* stock stiff shafts
Ping i10 irons 4-9, PW, UW, SW, LW AWT stiff flex

A golf use for it, but there are alot of ifs:

If doesn't have a camera, yet. They could put one in if iPad does well and demand for a camera is high, then you can bring it to to the range, put it in front of you, put it on a stand or on top of your bag and tape yourself using another if product, a remote. You can play back and watch without ever having to move it.

A nice to have and not really much on the wow factor, yeah. Lots of other ifs like glare and fps and vid quality, but like I said, it's a stretch. Beats looking at the tiny screen on a p&s;, but p&s; gets the job done as is.

    • Day 58 - 2024-11-27 Some quick 90-yard shots on a particular hole… before a lesson and testing out multiple Foresight Launch Monitors on GSPro.
    • Day 209 (27 Nov 24) - Easy session with the LW - short pitches replicating greens side up and downs. Finished up with the 7i and hard foam balls - making 1/2 to 3/4 swings with deliberately slowed tempo…from varied lies.
    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
    • Is that the current generation Gamer? Another old standby for a firm and inexpensive ball is Pinnacle.  There are two models, the Rush and the Soft, but I don’t know what compression they are.
    • Good advice, but according to DSG website it is a 45 compression ball. My current ball is the Top-flite Gamer at 70. 45 is too low for me to go.
