Where's the "choke" smiley when you need it. I mean, come on , a 92-yard drive!!!??? A double-bogey on the par 5 17th?

Gag gag gag.

He also had a 111-yard tee shot on the same hole on Thursday. And I didn't point out that this was

with an iron . Anyway, I'm rooting for Tom Lehman.

He needs to stop changing his game plan. He said that he was going to try to hit a carved hook during his interview, but during his swing they showed he was aimed for a small draw and he made a cut swing.

I'm dissapointed in him.

He's just a kid so I give him a freshman pass. But he'll have to take some notes from Tiger on being a closer for future reference.

Clearly he hasn't "learned how to win!"

yea, he's a big time choker - yet I haven't read even 1/2 of the crap that has been written about Michelle Wie's being unable to close a deal in the final round.
He's a "kid" ? He's almost twice her age. People's unability to be objective always amazes me...

Yeah, that was a pretty bad choke job by Bubba.

BUT, his choke job wasn't nearly as bad as Lehman leaving his eagle putt on 17 in the final round about 4" short, which would have netted him 5 points and the win.

Oh, Bubba's choke was definitely worse than that. He hit two shanks in a row. I like how he admitted the nerves got the best of him in the post-round interview. A lot of golfers tend to say the pressure wasn't getting to them. I liked Bubba's honesty, and I liked how he bounced back to birdie the 18th.

I don't know; I expect Lehman to make that putt, I don't necessarily expect Watson to nut up and put it away like he had the chance to do. Lehman shouldn't miss a putt like that.

Exactly. He stood up there and admitted it. I wasn't sure what kind of person Bubba was. I have more respect for the kid now.

He's just got to learn from it.

I don't get this. He's 86th in the world rankings, graduated from Nationwide tour, hits the longest ball on the tour. What sense does your statement make? The only good thing in this post was the fact, that you admited - you've no clue

C'mon. Elaborate on it a bit instead of throwing empty statement like that - WHY do you think his swing is bad? What's wrong with it? If you do that - we all can learn from it.

I would think he means with that over swing he uses to hit the ball.. there is a guy at my club that swings like that it looks unreal when he swings.. however his results arent nearly as good as bubba's..

first of all i wasnt saying he isnt any good.

when it comes to his swing, mostly my comment was based on his club position at the top of his backswing and the tempo (if u can call it that) with which he swings. like sometimes i tried to gear and nail it like he does and half the time i'll hit it fat or do something else thats not very pretty. and the reason i said something was because you always hear about guys changing or tweaking their swings so they can hold up under pressure, and i bet its even tougher for him with his 200 MPH swing (exaggeration) i hope that helps

Yeah, more gooder

indeed this is his problem - he doesn't have the balance between maintainable swing and maximized distance right. IMHO - so does Tiger. IMHO - If they realized that 300 off the tee is good enough and it doesn't have to be 340 every time they swing the big stick - their game would be so much better... scary thought, huh?

Only just read this thread and reading through some off the interesting notes, he has never reached 86th in the world ranking whoever posted that, hes got down to about 160 but thats his best. i think it was a lack of experience for his choke on 17 on sunday, if he would have took it sensibly and made a birdie which he is more than capable of doing on the shortest of the par 5's, he would have got me £709 of a £2.50 each way bet at 225/1 but oh well, he wil win someday! His swing is amazing when i saw his drive no 18 on sunday and the 427 yard bomb off the 14th on saturday right after a rain delay!!! This guy hopefuly is due a win on tour.

Hopefully if he is still on the main tour next year or the year after, im coming to america to watch him!

As lucas glover is my second favourite golfer, i hope he makes the ryder cup with a top 8 finish this week after his 6 under opening round. I will be going there too if he makes it. Although i am english, i wil be hoping if he does make it he will win his matches. for me the US Tour is far beter than the European tour and more exciting!

Bubba is 166th in the world rankings right now and 84th on the money list. The top-125 secure their PGA Tour card, and he will surely do that. So we will be seeing him next year on the PGA Tour unless he completely falls apart at the end of the season.

He is farther down on the world rankings list than I expected though. Then again, Hunter Mahan is 199th, and he much better than that ranking.

    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
