I have a laminated "coach card" that I carry with me that helps me remember specifics when it comes to different types of shots that occur during any given round. Sometimes when you're out there, you forget to stay a step back, look and breathe. Carrying these with me helps me remember to take my time when figuring out a shot and helps me remember what the heck I'm supposed to do.

This is what is on my card. Feel free to copy and paste this into word and make your own note cards for your bag or feel free to critique what I have.

yep----I'm always writing notes to myself whether on the course or range. No paper. I'll write the on my hand, glove, arm, even have notes on my wedge shafts.

Pretty cool idea, do you have them hole punched and hang on the bag or just stick in the pocket? Also I am super new to golf and curious if these notes are for YOUR golf style or the proper approach for all golfers assuming their technique is otherwise correct? Thanks for sharing.

Swing - Mulligan - Repeat

I have something similar, but not printed or laminated yet. It has a lot more details, but only for a few kinds of shots. I don't have a swing engrained into me yet, so I write down everything that I find helpful because I may forget it if I don't focus on practicing it. Once I feel satisified that the list is well-rounded I plan to print it and laminate it or something.

Upslope Lie

Do you really switch up one club no matter which angled lie you have?

unless the angle is minor, yes. i don't have a real fast swing speed

USA 79, These are very general rules and could be applied to you unless you have a specific training regiment. If you want the word document I can email it to you, just let me know. I printed it on glossy photo paper, used a paper cutter at kiknos and cut it in half, then put it back to back and laminated it all at kinkos for 2 bucks. You could pop a hole in it and hang it from your bag if you wanted. You can also change the name and logos on there to match your info.

This is a cool idea. And it looks great, you did a good job on it.Sure beats scribbling a few notes in the back of a notebook.

I meant, do you switch one club UP regardless of whether it's an uphill or downhill lie? I was wondering if that was a typo, since usually people switch down a club when it's an uphill lie.

i wouldn't make it through a round for reading cards. i've often heard life would be a lot easier if i took the time to organize. perhaps it is because i'm disorganized that i haven't the time to sort it out. maybe one day, though.

Plugged Bunker

What do you mean by 'Toe in Club Face' here?

^he probably means 'closed clubface'.

I like this idea.

yes closed club face .. open club face is no good. When it's closed and it enters the sand, it works as a shovel and digs the ball out.

b-con i meant up to a longer club ... if i would normally be hitting a PW, i'd go to a 9

oh i see what's confusing you. i do have a typo in there i never realized. actually two now that i look at it close.

on an uphill lie, i go up one club longer ... PW to 9

on a downhill lie, i go down on club shorter .... 9 to PW

    • Nothing exposes low point control, and for that matter the general quality of ball striking like tight lies. Lol! I am at a crossroad. My days of playing with a super strong left hand grip are coming to an end it seems. I'm finding it increasingly difficult to maintain proper face control through impact as the club face naturally wants to turn over. The quality of strike and ball flight difference when I weaken the grip is stark. Problem is a weaker grip is at odds with my poor sore left forearm which I have been nursing for last few days after 3 days of demanding golf. As of now I will continue my 'transition' to a weaker grip with woods and hopefully my forearm will condition as I go along. Maybe someday I'll get to a normal address with irons too.Β
