Hey guys, i've read on here that you can get refurbished premium balls at Walmart/Target for around $20, and was thinking of buying a dozen. What have been your experiences with these balls? Are they usually in pretty good condition? Are most scuff free? Do most usually not have weird markings on them? I'd rather not play a ball with someone's elses initials in bright red sloppy handwriting...jus sayin'

This winter I bought 200 Precept Laddie X's from lostgolfballs.com. They were of the AAA quality, and I planned on using them for practice/shag balls. At least 1/4 to 1/2 of them look to be in mint condition though. All of them could be playable, if you are not to fussy. The worst of them have some light scuff marks. I will likely buy from them again when these are gone.

Couldn't agree more. While you can get refurbished balls from Walmart/Target, lostgolfballs.com is THE place to get great deals on the best balls you can buy. And from my experience, if you buy the best rated balls, they are in great condition. Good luck!

I've bought a lot from lostgolfballs.com and all but once have been impressed with the quality. The one time I did have a problem I ordered some TM TP Red and Black to compare. I had some TP Burners mixed in and then on top of that a handful did not look like quality was up to normal level. I called them and they made it right. I've been ordering from them for almost 2 years and the savings over new balls really adds up. Even if you do get a couple less then desired quality they are so much cheaper you still come out way ahead. I got through a lot fewer golf balls now then I did when I started ordering from them, so I buy nicer balls ow, but savings is still substantial and I have occasionally compared them to a new ball, couldn't tell a difference. You might be able to with scientific testing, but I think in the end the golf swing is so complicated that you'd be hard pressed to blame a problem on the ball being used vs. new.

I've purchased from them too. I generally find lostgolfballs.com to be a little cheaper and better selection though.

There's a difference between "Refurbished" and "vintage or used".....

Used golf balls are golf balls that have been played, and in most cases, lost in the depths of water hazards (ponds and lakes) on various golf courses. Paid divers go into the water and retrieve the balls. Sometimes they can use extending rakes and retrievers specifically designed to scoop balls out of the water.

Most places will clean the balls then give each one a Golf Ball Rating. Without these ratings, you will not know how much play the used golf ball received. This is why you have to be careful when you see normally expensive golf balls selling used for a ridiculously low price. If a rating is not stated, you should assume they are practice balls and they are not to be used in a round. If you are planning to buy used golf balls for serious rounds of golf, you are better off spending a few dollars more and get a ball rated for regular play.

Feel free to use used golf balls for normal rounds. They are great to use and will save you money.

Refurbished, or sometimes called reconditioned, golf balls are very different from used . With a refurbished ball, they take a used ball, repaint it , and place a new logo on it so it looks brand new. This may not be the best to play with because you have to “hit and hope.” You have to hit the ball and hope that the refurbished ball you are using has a good dense core and hasn’t been overplayed. Refurbished balls may not have ratings because it would be very hard for someone to estimate the condition of the core of the ball. The ball looks brand new, yet it can have over 20 rounds on it.

Refurbished would be good for practice, but they are not recommended for serious rounds.

The best prices on used golf balls, with consistent quality, that I've found have been from the seller "golfballnut" on ebay (also has a website, golfballnut.com). I just bought 50 AAAAA Bridgestone e6+ for $50 (free shipping). At lostgolfballs.com, they want $60 for 48, and that seems about typical of the price difference between those two sellers. Golfballnut is also good about sending discount coupons via email, and they have frequent "sales" in their ebay store. Customer service is very good, as well.

In my Grom:

Launcher 9.0 and 3W. Fujikura Hit-on-M Red X-Stiff
'09 Burners 3-AW. KBS +1" Stiff. 1x hard-stepped
A7 2H. UST ProForce Axiv Stiff 56.08 SW Stainless. G5i Putter. TP Burner LDP or Bridgestone e6+.

LOSTGOLFBALLS.COM is the place to buy used balls. I game the nike power distance soft balls which are normally pretty cheap at <$20 a dozen but to buy 50 AAAA balls at 27.95 why not get balls that have been played only a couple holes.

You can't beat the Grade A balls you can find at Walmart...excellent quality with minimal markings on them (logos, etc.)

It is important to mention Grade A because they sell Grade B and Grade C balls and the drop off in quality on those Grade are huge. Grade A only is worth it and they come in a dozen.

I can see it for a shag bag but why would anyone play someone's used ball on the course? I would rather play new x-outs if money is tight.

I bought 40 recycled Nike Golf Balls for $18 at amazon. They were in great condition. Some had company logo's on them but in great condition. I've been using them for practice rounds.

Anyone have experience with GolfBallsDirect.com? They sell "recycled" golf balls which im assuming is the same as used. They go into depth about how refurbished golf balls can be bad and about how they do more than just make a old ball look new. They have even better prices than lostgolfballs.com (13.99 for a dozen of HX Tours?! =O) so I was wondering if their quality is up to par.

    • First (12 holes) round in a year, maybe the third round in five years. After prioritizing family for a long time, I’m ready to play more golf. We moved back where I grew up and started playing golf. The course is close, but only six holes and pretty short, so the longest club I bring is a 4i. It is very undulated, with a lot of elevation changes and 4/6 greens are blind shots. The long game was relatively good (relative to my game and swing). Got things to work on, but the current state is manageable. One OB. Wedges and short game was atrocious. Chunking like I was making a garden. On the worst hole I chunked a 58° approach, then chunked three chips in a row… Time to search up some chipping topics and start practicing. I’ll take this over bad long game and good short game. The short game is easier to fix. Shot a net +17(!), gross +23, over 12 holes.
    • Day 118 - Spent some time working on the full swing. Need to film some swings for Evolvr tomorrow.
    • playing with cleveland hybrid irons have friends that use hybrids anyone using hybrid irons or hybrids would appreciate fwwdback
    • I dont know if I really have a favorite, but there are two that have stuck in my mind for a very long time. #15 at Erie Golf course during the Finals of the EDGA Matchplay. Was up early and then lost a few holes in row so the match was close again. My opponent had a short putt for birdie. I hit past hole high, but 35 feet right. I drained the putt and looked over at my opponent who was in disbelief.   #8 at Whispering Woods during another year of the EDGA Matchplay. Was playing a very cocky opponent who made sure to mention on the first tee how many times he won the club championship at this course. I hammered this 30 footer that clanked off of the pin and dropped. My opponent was disgusted and that made me weirdly happy. I went on to win 5&3 or something like that, so that entire day has stayed in my memory.
    • Day 20: Did 30 minutes after getting home from work, before kid's baseball practice. This session was piecing out the new hip move in transition, doing 2-3 rehearsals from the top, and then hitting a ball from between P5/P6. Did another 45 minutes after baseball practice and dinner. Did 30 more minutes of what I did earlier, and then about 15 minutes of full swings trying to incorporate athletically.
