I really would like to get some videos of my swing for the experts here to critique, but I was curious to see what some might say about this shot of my downswing...

Are you talking about your avatar, or were you hitting in heavy fog?

No, but maybe on the wife's laptop (newer browser) I'll have more luck - the avatar looks good though.

Not an expert at all but I read alot and take lots of lessons so here ya go...................Great left arm extension. The only thing here that you could work on is trying to flatten out your swing a little. You most likely hit a little cut right? If you were to look at this picture from behind you, your club shaft would be across the line that your left arm is making at the top, making it pretty darn difficult to come from the inside on your downswing. If playing a cut is your ideal swing and ball flight, then don't change a thing. I am working on this myself in that my club is across the line at the top, then I try and compensate on the way down by lopping a litle to bring the club in from the inside. The only thing else would be to try and lessen the angle of your shaft in comparison to your lft arm to promote more lag on the way down. There migh be more nit picky things, but if you like your swing and your ball flight and trajectory are ideal, then play your swing. Good luck man!!

My only critique is that your underarmour and nike shirts aren't coordinated with your mizuno hat. Stick with one or two sponsors.

J/K I have nothing to add and was only really posting to say that the pic showed up for me.

You do look a little steep there. But for all I know you could have a good move to drop it into the slot from that position, which is why you should really post a video.Very hard to critique a swing from a still.

Nice slacks though

A great shot is when you go for it and pull it off. A smart shot is when you don't have the guts to try it. ~ Phil Mickelson.

Only critique is that the picture is not moving.

IMO, there is nothing in that image that looks incorrect. But, we don't know how you got here or more importantly, where you are going. A video will be necessary.

i'm not one to dish out advice but i'll throw in my 2 cents. it looks from the pic that you're turning your hips a lot. this might just be from the angle at which the pic was taken but it looks like you're turning your hips away and that's making your upper body rotate. maybe try to turn that into more of a slide and less of a rotation.

The weather in New England is finally letting up. I will do my best to get a couple videos. I would love to see what you all think.

Thanks.

Pardon my lack of gratuitous signature... I'll have to manually key one in for this post.

As others have said, it's certainly tough to make any meaningful suggestions without seeing your swing plane and action at the top. If you can post even front a side still images at the top, that would be helpful.

With that said, what is your normal ball flight?

1. It doesn't look like you are generating a ton of lag in this shot, which is something you could work on by softening your wrists and hands at your transition. Are you happy with your distance right now?

2. Also, looking at your left knee... looks like a good amount of hip tilt. You could try keeping a firmer left heel at the top and focus on turning your hips rather than tilting.

Post back when you can!

How about letting us know where the ball ended up and then I'll tell you what I think of your downswing.

    • Day 22: mirror work for a while. Working on my elbow in the downswing - keeping it in a better position.
    • Day 36 (16 Dec 25) - continued the exaggerated left foot weight shift trigger adding some easy low flighted pitches with the 5h and a few putting style bump and runs with the 5h as well.
    • Day 442 - 2025-12-16 Got some swings in at an indoor academy a little south of Erie.
    • Has anyone played the new Maxfli forged irons? For the first time in I don't know how many years, they have come out with new clubs. From what I read, Maxfli was bought by Taylor Made a long time ago which then took all of their ball making technology and patents in order to get into that market. The club business was left to whither and the reorganized company, now a part of Dicks / Golfworks / Maltby, is producing these new clubs. (Their Tour X balls which I play are really good.) Anyway, I tried them both out at Golf Galaxy. There's a player's distance iron (XC-3) and a blade (XC-2) and both feel really, really nice, almost "Mizuno-like" in their soft buttery feel and they're a bargain at $800 for a set. I'm planning to ditch my Titleist's and want to go back to a forged iron. I almost pulled the trigger on the Mizuno Pro-245's last summer, but a damaged tendon sheath in my finger combined with a back injury messed up my golf game so I held off. Now the Pro-245's are no longer available, soon to be replaced by the MX-15. (At twice the price of the Maxfli's...that's what got my attention in the first place.) If anyone has played with the new Maxfli's or just tried them out like I did, let me know what you think.
    • Day 126 12-16 Back swing and rotation work today. Didn't hit any balls. Focusing on rotating and getting to lead side.
