I was poking around the Treetops site today and they had some sort of "free unlimited upgrade" for any trips between May 24th and 31st. Essentially you get unlimited golf the day after your night stay and 18 holes the day you arrive. So I look at the pricing and it says $159 for the 28th and 29th and 139 for the 30th and 31st.

OK, so I'm thinking about booking Saturday the 29th which would include 18 that afternoon and then we could squeeze in 36 on Sunday for $159 - a great deal. I give them a call and ask about that weekend and the reservation chick goes "Yes, the 29th is available, $99 a man." I repeat the price just to be sure, and confirm that it's $396 for all 4 golfers. So we're heading up there:

Day we arrive, 2pm May 29th - 18 holes on the Jones Masterpiece
Overnight Stay at the resort
7:30am on the 30th - 18 holes on the Fazio Premier
1:30om on the 30th - 18 holes at the Smith Signature

We are also probably going to mix in Threetops around 11am on the 29th for $25.

If you're in Michigan and don't have Memorial Day weekend plans, you owe it to yourself to see if they still have this rate.

Threetops is a MUST. Treetops usually has some really awsome deals throughout the year. Last year me and a buddy went, 2 days unlimited golf and 1 night stay. We hit each 18 hole course plus a few extra holes and threetops twice for a total of 96 holes. pure awsomeness. I think it was like $160 each for the deal.

That is a great deal. The boat will be in the water by then so no golf for me on the weekends or I would head up there for a night or two. Have fun.

I had a great weekend up there. Very pleased with EVERYTHING they have to offer. We left later than expected so we could only fit in 18 on saturday on the Signature and had to sit out the rain sunday morning and played 18 on the Fazio. Besides some crazy flys and mosquitos because of it being spring, the courses were outstanding. I will definatley be going back.

If you want to know a good deal in Michigan. Look into The Coyote Preserve in Fenton. It's an Arnold Palmer design which was originally privately owned but went bankrupt and was recently bought. I played there last week when I was visiting my family, and it only costed $30 for 18 range balls and a cart.

    • Rule 1.2b refers you to a section in the Committee Procedures (Section 5I) that helps explain what a Code of Conduct may (and may not) do.  Defining acceptable behavior (including smoking) and applying Stroke of DQ penalties are certainly within the Committee's authority. That Code of Conduct certainly should be available, either in written form or in a webpage accessible to all.  It may not show up on the "standard local rules" for an organization, the "hard card", as it sounds like its a policy of this particular golf course. Assuming that's the case it should show up on the Notice to Players for this particular event.  If you can't find it, ask someone, send an email, try to find out.   In summary, yes the Committee can DQ (or withdraw) a Player for smoking, even before or between rounds.  But its up to you to go from there, communication is the key here.

    • Hmm... I not sure I completely understand. If the course has a no smoking policy, then he shouldn't smoke at the course.  I'm assuming since you are aware of the policy, it must be written down somewhere.  As far as getting disqualified from the tournament, I would think that would be up to the committee. But it feels like it is within their power to disqualify, so why take the chance?
