I saw the tweet earlier. I've been doing some drills this evening trying to feel the arms do less.

The shoulders can do more to raise the upper arms up a bit.

For distance wedge shots, I suspect it is still arms do nothing. Is it more just less turn to control the distance?

Played 18 today at the PA/OH/NY Meetup (Deer Ridge GC, OH). In general. Didn't hit many greens. Didn't make any putts. Had 4 blowup holes.

Driver - For the most part decent, though I got in a 3 hole stretch were I would just block the shot 30 yards right. On the back nine I started to just decide to try to swing low left. This helped out for the most part.

Irons - Not that solid. Just couldn't hit many greens. Shots still feel like I have no room to swing down with my arms. Things just feel stuck.

Short game - Pretty decent

Putting - Never made anything outside of 5-Ft

Some drive range work.

1) Need to keep swing shorter
2) Need to figure out timing of squat and left side extension stuff. Right now, when I try to squat, I feel like I don't turn and I fat it. When I try to squat less, or extend a bit sooner, then I just get stuck with my weight back. I think I need to do right side crunch more, and right side through more to keep things turning forward. Then extend.

This is just an initial swing. Maybe not warmed up as I need to be. Some days turning just feels like a bother.

This swing is trying to keep it shorter. Also, more right side through feel.

Yea, here is the driver... I hate this club. So tough to keep it shorter...

Here is the shot that has been bugging me a bit. I feel like I hit a good shot, but it just turns into a big push cut. More cut than push. This was also trying to feel like my arms do nothing at all.

Another, driver swing where I just feel like my arms do nothing at all.

Wider arms, higher elbow. From FO your right elbow should be visible longer.

Here’s the deal Matt. And I speak from experience at both sides of this.

You have to determine how much you want it, and then MAKE yourself swing the right speed back so you can MAKE yourself swing the right length.

Practicing long swings just ingrains it more.

You’re not warming up. You’re practicing. The best drill is doing it right.

One thing that might help for not using the arms is the swing jacket...It Literally doesn't allow you to swing your arms.

It did work but I have so many other problems I stopped using it.

I appreciated the idea, but I don't think I will be doing that.

For me, taking the arms out causes my right elbow to stay to close to my body, and the hands start to just go deep.

I wonder if using a notebook or journal to track my practice would help keep me focused on the process more.

Something like.

Later ones are a bit better. Not laid off at the top. Still some back of the hand facing horizontal stuff.

Some backswing work today. Trying to stop the backswing shorter and keep the back of the left hand facing away more.

    • Range again today. A few freezers and a few smoothies. If I add a little speed I swing further arms go deeper and lower and more across again. Really like where this freezer got to on backswing:   This is a smoothie (ish). Clubhead tracks up the hands nicely but the things go a bit wrong: At normal speed: Lastly one shortish pitch shot. Pitching some days I come out and can drop it on the flag. Other days it’s going sideways. Like missing right or left by 10 yards from 50 yards and nothing in between. I suspect it’s from the hands coming out and the cut across. If I release it on that line it’s going left. If I hold it off it’s going right and then it’s timing. When it’s off it’s off. Feels like if I can get that under control it will tighten up a lot.
    • Disney's Lake Buena Vista Golf Course. Which I believe used to host a LPGA tournament. Fantastic course, compared to what I typically play. So fantastic I carded a 115! in my defense it was 90 degrees by 9 am in late July. Not to mention whatever grass they had around the green was absolutely foreign to me, I could not get my wedge through it. The entire grass came up like it was a piece of shag carpet. Suffice to say my short game was a mess. but good times!
    • Nice Berger choke job to the Anchor Man who putted well.
    • The most important thing in my mind was Akshay responding all day Sunday. He was 2 over and five back at the turn and just get grinding. bridies galore and then on the fifth he bogeyed and on the sixth he played it far enough right that if he missed a little left it would be right by the hole. It was and he made the eagle. Stayed in it, kept playing great and kept getting pars. He very much deserved the win.
