I always carry an old club that I'll never use other than as a throwing club. Whenever I feel the need to let the steel fly, I go to my bag and pull this club out. I'll usually give it a good huck between green and tee box but if the occasion requires, I'll use it in the fairway. This method not only relieves stress but has saved me hundreds in broken and bent shafts. Once the other clubs in my bag see the fate that could befall them, they straighten up - figuratively and literally.

Whoever came up with the saying, "A bad day of golf is better than a good day at work", is a moron.

Sounds like you could need some anger management.

I may drop the club into the ground on a poor shot, but I don't throw things around.

yea I remember when a good player on our golf team in high school threw his cleveland wedge and broke the shaft after a bad shot. Someone told our coach and our coach basically snapped on the whole team about breaking or throwing clubs, If I remember right he said he would suspend us from the team if he found out you bent or broke a club.

I don't have anger issues and I'm not above kickin' some ass to prove it!

No. Throwing a club is not behavior that should be tolerated on the golf course.

I used to carry a few rocks (old water balls) to hit OB or into the pond on purpose. I was better back then. I'm not good enough these days to get mad about a missed shot.

Agree. Especially to the premeditated point that you carry a special club for it!

This thread did make me laugh though! LOL

I'm surprised you have the presence of mind to put the club you just hit poorly back and take out your throwing club. When I get mad, it definitely helps to physically vent somehow, usually that ends up being on the next tee with my Driver, hitting the ball as hard as I can. I have thrown a club once, and broke it. I kind of agree with other people, you don't want to do it and it's uncomfortable for the rest of the round if you're playing with people. But those other people probably don't have the tempers we have, and it's tough to control sometimes.

I tell you what pisses me off. Hitting at the range, trying to focus on fundamentals, good swing path, stay loose, and chunking or skulling shots, only to see the guy next to me with a terrible out to in swing, actually stepping out like a baseball player and just murdering the ball. Makes me want to toss my 8 iron at his head

.....and of course, that same guy proceeds to hit 6 buckets of all driver's while you're hitting your 8 iron trying to work on tempo.

I used to throw clubs and get all upset. That is until I had a guy in my group one round do the same thing...and I realized what a complete idiot I looked like

I would get pretty embarrassed if I started throwing clubs around. I know what i would think of myself if i was watching. Then again, errors don't bother me much, but they will when i get to a handicap like yours i guess!

I've gotten into the habit lately of slamming my club into the ground....after a bad shot.....I need to stop doing that although it is difficult because it is the only thing around that I can abuse

the one and only time i ever threw a club i snapped the shaft in my 5iron. $20 later i learned a valuable lesson. to me, carrying a "throwing club" is pointless. there shouldn't be alot of club tossing on the course, i just learned some self control and a better attitude.

Throwing club? No. But I do have a desert club. I'm really weak and skinny, throwing a club will hurt me lol or someone else.

Now I don't carry a thorwing club but I also play tennis and do carry a throwdown racquet. It's quite out of shape now.... Never even thought of that for Golf. I guess the 14-club rule may need a little bending for this.
