Alright guys, I just figured my handicap, my home course is a rating of 66 and 110. Using my last 5 scores(which is what I've read you're supposed to do) my handicap would be a 9.2. Does that sound about right to you all?
That was my bad, but ole Paz still isn't a 5.7, I believe you all would agree with that...?

Hah - I knew you were a single digit!! Who knows - that back to back 9s thing is totally valid. He might not be able to play to his index over 18, but really, who does?

I was (or rather I did) - but it's not really fair. There's no proof of my internet handicap index (my interdex) either - I could be a 2 or a 32 - it's just another profile field to fill in.

Exactly, but that's the age we live in. Just like when I was younger/single and used to try to meet girls online, they would say they looked like Janet Jackson, but when you met them it was more like Freddy Jackson, know what i mean!!

The site admins need to allow us to give our handicap information (member number, association, etc.) so they can pull our index after every revision. Peer review in action.

Then again, that would interrupt everyone's second favorite pasttime: arguing on internet forums... PS: how did 'golf and life ending' transform into a discussion of Handicap minutae?

Hey, if a week of shanking or slicing is the end of the line for some guys, other guys can debate virtual indexes of total strangers. Yin and yang.

Yeah yeah, steal my fun. As a consolation measure we could just throw something up on the forum homepage everytime revisions come out so updating would be easy...

Mind you, I will hate this 'feature' if my index begins to climb again.

i wasnt sure if i was the only one who has this problem. i shoot 36, 35, 34 all the time when i go out at night then i go out in the morning and play 18 and shoot like 77,78,79. i obviously occasionally throw up a 71 or 69 but really i have to work hard to shoot my handycap. i always assumed i was just a failure but apparently other people have that problem?

I thought single digit handi cappers had stable enough swings that when they get the shanks or whatever, it takes a 2 minute lesson with a swing coach or 5 minutes of looking at a video of themself

usually it does

i too had a case of the "banana slices" a few weeks ago 4 swings and my coach knew what to fix - 20 mins of hitting balls and im good the OP is not an 8

Some people definitely overstimate their cap
I have a friend who called himself a 4 at the start of the season and he shoots mid to high 80s
He either called himself at a 4 on a super super easy home course or he's lying through his teeth

Still trying to figure out how a low round of 82=5.7 handicap?

Maybe if you actually read the thread you would know? Where does it ever say my low round is 82 with my best two nines combined? Does it say that anywhere? No. 82 is my best full consecutive 18. Everyone knows it's much harder to shoot your handicap over 18.

Your handicap is what you should score if you match your best scores you've ever had. A round can be applied to a handicap even if the whole 9 is not completed. Only 7 full holes need to be completed to be eligible for the handicap. Obviously, the more rounds you play the more consistent you need to be since they add more rounds into your differential the more you play. Again, shooting your handicap over 18 is much more difficult due to many kinds of fatigue. Plus more can go wrong in 18 holes than 9.

Best 9 holes: 35 (Trilogy at Redmond Ridge, 3163y, Par 35/70, 70.0/131)
Best 18: [b]77[b] (Palm Valley CC, 6545y, 71.4/126)
Notable career achievement: I have NEVER four-putt.
