I don't have too much golf apparel as I'm trying to limit costs, though I did manage to pick up a couple IZOD polos from Boston Store during a Father's Day sale, $50 down to $25, then down to $15 after a $10 off $25 coupon. :P

What's in my Tartan Precise TS-869 Bag:
Woods: Northwestern 1W, 3W, stock grip

Irons: 855 R flex steel shaft 5-PW, Golf Pride Tour Wrap midsize grips
Wedges: PureSpin Tour Series Diamond Face 52* AW, 56* SW, 60* LW, Golf Pride...

I'm surprised I haven't seen Target brand listed yet. I think they call theirs Champion or some such. Most of my gym clothing is that brand, and I'm quite fond of their golf polos. They're normally $20, but every few weeks (especially in the summer) they go on sale to $15.

They are champions. Champion is not a target brand though.

OP, do you have to have the moisture wicking material? I find that material to be overrated. My moisture wicking shirts don't keep me any more cool or less sweat drenched than their cotton counterparts.

I have also found lots (bundles or 2-3 shirts) of shirts on ebay, i think i bought three nike dri fit shirts for like 83 bucks or something. Also Ross and BeAlls have great deals on shirts...

Haven't read through all of the replies, but here's a few suggestions:

If you have a Belk in your area, the ProTour stuff is pretty good and usually reasonably priced. You should never pay full price for it...they are constantly marking it down.

Kohl's will typically sell Chaps Golf shorts & pants for ~$20-$30 if you time it right. You usually get the best deal in the off-season (shorts are cheaper in winter and pants in summer). Kohl's also sells Golden Bear golf shirts for pretty cheap ($15-$20).

BJ's Warehouse & Sam's Club usually sell Nike and/or Adidas golf shirts for $25-$30. I haven't seen golf-specific shorts there, though.

No one has mentioned this, but I found great deals at Golf Galaxy, last year. I bought about 5 shirts for about $60/$70....They have the end of season sales during the summer months getting ready for golf season start in Oct/Nov. I bought Greg Norman, Ashcroft, and another brand I can't recall right now.... Also I hit Sports Authority and Found Adidas at $10.

For shorts, O do use cargo shorts, I load the pocket with everything I may need at the tee....tees, balls, mini club brush, ball marker...etc.... I haven't found golf shorts that have additional pockets. Also I can't, in good conscious, spend $70 on a pair shorts for golf! I tend to go to either Old Navy or Marshall's for these..under $20 easy. Last year I picked up 2 plaid "golfesq" short at Old Navy for about $15 total.
It's the indian, not the arrow! But it sure is nice to have good arrows!!!!!

In addition to what I said earlier, all of the golf superstores' websites have fire-sales from time to time where they have really good deals on "last year's" shirts, whatever those are.

Callaway has stores in the outlet malls in the Chicago area. You can find the exact same apparel that you see in the pro shops only much much less expensive.

Was surprised to find a decent selection of shirts for 20 bucks at Filene's basement the other day. Bought one for my dad for Father's day.

BTW, to the poster who said cotton shirts are just as good as moisture wicking, I wholeheartedly disagree. A few years ago I was playing in 85 degree humid weather with a cotton shirt and I literally couldn't swing the club by the 13th hole as it was drenched and sticky. Since then I only wear 90+% polyester shirts. I haven't found a lot of difference in performance between the brands, although I am partial to the look and feel of Under Armour.

I'm really liking the new Mike Weir golf shirts I picked up at Sport Chek - wrinkle free, fit and cut for hitting balls and carrying a bag, sharp monochrome colour scheme, and no logos!!

Anyway, I think you can't cheap out on a golf shirt. Sweating and swinging for 4 hours in a cheap shirt is no fun.

Old Navy has a line called Rec Tec. They make AWESOME, cool (with moisture-wicking properties) shirts at really good prices. Hell, everything's always on sale at Old Navy anyway...but you can get a really good, moisture-wicking (not cotton) polo shirt for 8-10 bucks there if you catch a sale. I have 4 of them.

    • Day 23: weird day, and only had a little bit of time. Just did mirror work again, working on where the elbow is in the downswing
    • I flipped over to this tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. Anyone else watch? I picked it up during the golf relay event, but seeing these pros out having fun in alternative events was refreshing and entertaining. I’m sure it will be on in reruns in the next week or so, so I won’t spoil the outcome. Im curious what others thought of it. I’m recording it’s later airing to see the beginning.
    • Day 443 - 2025-12-17 Made a few swings in testing some things out at another academy. Might pop up on someone else's podcast in a few weeks.
    • Day 37 (17 Dec 25) - nine hole round with my good friend.  We got paired up with a couple of the men’s group regulars as part of their shootout.  Started off with a wonderful quad bogie and then a dbl on three to be six over thru three holes.  Game went 180° over the next five as I shot one under (including a chip in birdie on hole six and four up and down 1 putt pars) for a net finish of five over. What could have been a really tough nine became a solid finish due to staying in the moment and not checking out.  Great day in course management and keeping perspective .
    • Day 127 12-17 Backswing and flow practice. Took advantage of the 60 degeee weather(it was 20 degrees Sunday)
