I was once in Vail when there was no snow around. I played Eagle Vail and it was a decent course. Also played Copper Mtn course. They both have a lot of elevation changes and drivable par 4's.
I think it was end of August so the snow was gone!

My top ten I’ve played
1.Pine Valley (truly awesome!!; lucky that my friend knew one of his father’s friends that got us on. The guy turned out to be the mayor of Pine Valley. They even have their own “police force”, not security, and the snapper soup was great.)
2.Mauna Lani Golf Club South Course, Kona Coast Hawaii
3.Homestead, Lower Cascades
4.Pete Dye Golf Club, Bridgeport WV
5.The Greenbrier, Old White
6.The Dunes, Myrtle Beach
7.River Course, Kingsmill VA
8.The Greenbrier, The Greenbrier
9.The “New Course” at Grand Cypress
10.Mid Pines Resort, Southern Pines, NC

The University of Washington does not own the golf course their golf teams play at it is owned by Oki Golf Inc., the golf course they play at is called

Washington National . If you ever get back to the state of Washington you need to check out TPC of Snoqualmie the home the Great Seattle Open for the Senior PGA Tour, and Gold Mountain Golf Club which was home to the U.S. Public Links in 2006.

Yeah, good point!

I was invited to play the TPC, but I just couldn't make it up there. As for Gold Mountain, it was during the USPL that I was out there, caddying, so I did see the course, just not play it.

I also played Coal Creek - Newcasle Golf Club - The Freddy Couples design also owned by OKI right? Ok track, lot of blind shots I wasn't too keen of considering there was no gps, yardage book...etc.

Washington National, yeah, that's it...thanks!

i had a pretty fun year in 2006:

pinehurst #2 & #8 (going back in two weeks to #2)
pebble & spanish bay (dagg to me: spyglass was hosting a tourney)
kiawah ocean course
the falls & reflection bay
bulle rock
royal liverpool-hoylake

we'll see what transpires this year, but i have kohler booked for my 30th birthday.

also trying to play golf in all 50 states and have Dubsdread (illinois) and Brickyard Crossing (IN) on the books too to knock out a few more states (should put me up to about 25 or so...)

The Bear at Grand Traverse Resort was in Golf Digest's 50 toughest golf courses. I have to admit that shooting a 90 there with the winds whipping off of Lake Michigan was ok with me.

It definitely lives up to one of the toughest 50.

"The people who play here are going to have a challenge and also have some fun, whatever level of golfer they might be…with rolling land, trees, lakes, streams and flatland, you have a mixture of different features that you rarely see on one course. That's what makes this course unique. No two holes are similar."
– Jack Nicklaus

"The Bear is one of the great golf courses we play. The thing that makes this course so great is that it can be set up as tough as you want. This course challenges you on every shot. This is the way golf courses should be designed."
– Chi Chi Rodriguez, winner of the 1990 Ameritech Senior Open

Welcom on board Coug.

With the changed they have made to Sawgrass you will be in for an interesting day. Can't believe how quickly they have got that done, in the UK that sort of exercise would have taken literally years to get done.

Let us know how you get on.

I am really looking forward to it! We are playing a few other great courses as well.

Things get done quite fast when the PGA is involved with that kind of financial backing...

Have you played the course or anybody else out there since the renovations?

Woburn Dukes (UK) is a fine course, as is Spyglass Hill; possibly one of the best courses in North America!

For those on a budget but would like to play an full 18 holes near the Pacific Ocean in So. California I recommend the Los Verdes Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes. I think the greens fees was a measly $30-35 and the locale was great with shots set up along the ocean.
