I also have a few things that make me happy.

- When I am hitting a consistent ball off the tee
- Strong putting game
- pure ball striking with all clubs

So if I am having a bad day at the course and any of the above come through, then I am happy :)

What's in my bag:

R7 TP Driver 8.5 degree
5 wood
ZB Forged Irons (3 - PW) Vokey Milled Chromed SW Putter

One of the most satisfying things for me on the golf course is hitting a pure 5-Wood (Nike Sasquatch) and watching it take a nice flight path and stop right on the green on par 5's to reach in two...maybe its so satisfying because it happens about once a month..?

I have to say that for me, the thing that makes me the happiest is hitting my target dead on. Watching the ball flying EXACTLY the line I wanted is just such a beautiful feeling. I can overlook a lot of junk in my game if I can keep my target line going on like I want it to.

Y'all have fun!

That one shot... For me that one shot can come from any club.

I guess since I have been concentrating on ball striking more, I love when I look at the club face after the shot and see the ball mark in the sweet spot. My normal shot is typically closer to the hosel, so when I see/feel the sweet spot I get all warm and fuzzy.

I love to paint my way around the course and shape the ball from tee to green. Hitting that high fade around the tree to the tucked pin, or swinging a big hook around a dogleg left, etc. Definitely my favorite part. Wished I loved putting as much as the longer game.

Hitting good shots that "go where I'm looking". Obviously I don't "pure" that many, but I hit a good many that turn out generally like I planned.

One of my favorites was early season like January or so. I was only about 160 out but it was cooler and hitting into about a 2 club wind. I hit about a 3/4 3 iron on a low draw trajectory that hit the green. I wasn't scoring well that day, but that shot made me enjoy the round.

Once every couple rounds I decide to intentionally fade or draw a shot. When successful it's a great feeling.

Getting a par (or better yet a birdie) on the No. 1 or 2 HDCP hole.

Getting up and down for par after a bad drive.

Drawing an iron shot back against a left-to-right crosswind and landing it close to pin. (The one fancy shot I actually pull off on occasion!)

Focus, connect and follow through!

I like Go-Far balls... when I hit them clean and they go far that makes me happy.
Also, if I visualize a shot shape and hit it like I want I am super happy - this can actually bring me back into good play if I'm having an off day.

Even par through 9 is my best.  I don't even want to think about what was my worst.

Making long putts. I just love the feeling of watching it go, walking in it's trail, and watching it sink. Even a long putt for bogey is fun to experience.

Hitting greens. To me there is no better feel in golf than hitting a pure iron shot, seeing it smack down on the green, and spin back a foot or two. Long irons don't have that same spin effect, but it is also nice because it is a harder shot.

This is my favorite, too. There's nothing like watching a well-struck iron shot, high and far, turning over gently into the heart of the green. Magic.

Stretch.

    • Day 37: did my drill swings in the garage with foam balls for about 15 minutes. Working on getting my backswing more turned and then going from there.
    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.
    • Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂
    • I need to drop a couple of stone. 🙂 😛    Yep. Yeah, but in the end, it feels more athletic, like you're actually using your legs, yeah? As you know… we use the best available info we have. Like others, I was fooled a little by 2D images for awhile (moving or still). Unlike others, I've learned and grown and moved on since then, while they're still looking at their images (often from lousy camera angles).
