People aren't going off on their own merry way - they are just disagreeing with the premise of the OP. The very fact that he put that disclaimer in meant he fully expected some backlash. Too bad you can't go on to a public internet forum and tell people who disagree with you they aren't allowed to post, huh?

How can they disagree with a premise that acknowledges the responses beforehand?

Now this is starting to get fun...How much longer you think I'll have to work at my desk job to become a member at Augusta?

No amount of self-styled rationalization will detract from what was basically an act of dishonesty on your part. Golf is more than a game. It's a culture that reveres such "arcane" concepts as honor, integrity, and respect for the property rights of others. So what if you never get to become a member of Augusta? Does that justify sneaking onto the course and disrespecting the rights of others? Don't bother answering that question...I already know what your answer is.

I think in some cases you can almost excuse the act if you're a kid. After all, kids can't join clubs, they've not had the chance to work and can't control the choices their parents have made, and there's some level of "mischief-making" to be expected.

But there's also something to be said for aspiring. I aspired to play great golf courses as a youngster, and I worked to make that dream come true. I spend my days helping people play golf and it's opened a lot of doors for me.

Did I sneak on as a kid? No, my pa would have whupped my ass. Do I condone sneaking on by anyone? No. By a guy who is well past the "mischief making" years? Even less than no.

But hey, what does this old grump know? I don't cut people in line either and if I get too much change I tell the cashier.

"The expert golfer has maximum time to make minimal compensations. The poorer player has minimal time to make maximum compensations." - And no, I'm not Mac. Please do not PM me about it. I just think he is a crazy MFer and we could all use a little more crazy sometimes.

Where does it end? I'd love to get a boat, but can't afford one right now. Should I go to a marina and take someone else's out for a day at the lake because I really, really want to? How about a house - mine is getting to be a bit small now that I have a kid. Should I sneak into a new larger one that hasn't been sold yet?

Yes, immediately. While you're at it, you should take the wife in that house if she's hot enough too. I'm sure anything is better looking than your better half.

Yes, we all saw it in the first post but it's taken you seven pages to realise. Still, quicker than most.

The OP should post his address, so we can all go enjoy his house. I would imagine he would be fine all of us with cooking on his grill and using his yard. After all trespassing is no big deal

No thanks. I'm doing better than I deserve in that respect and I actually know how to appreciate what I've got. Good to know that I have the permission of a miscreant on the internet, though.

It is one thing for you to come to my house, play golf in the yard or sleep with my wife. It is another to think I will let you touch my George Foreman.

brgolf: Never said I wasn't a criminal, though I'm not. I've had plenty of traffic tickets and paid them all. Never once did it occur to me to tell the police officer that I should be allowed to drive however I wanted because I was passionate about it.

All I've ever said in this thread is that yes, trespassing on a golf course is wrong - even if you are really passionate about playing that course and can't play it any other way. I've also pointed out that telling people on the internet not to respond to your post if they don't share your views is pointless.

I think it's obvious at this point that the OP is trolling and has run out of any remotely original material. IMO this thread has run it's course. Hopefully iacas will change his mind and put it out of it's misery.

So its legitimate for you to break the law but its not for the OP. Anyone who steps onto a private course knows what consequences they will face and are prepared to live with them. When you speed and drive in an inappropriate manner, you risk putting other lives at risk. Unless your closet is completely empty what gives anyone the right to criticize or judge the ethics of the OP? Its just a fantasy thread. Sure I would love to sneak onto Pine Valley but it won't happen.

Traffic tickets are civil law not criminal.

Actually it depends on what the traffic ticket is for. In most states speeding is not considered criminal because conviction does not carry the possibility of a jail term whereas driving without a license or with an expired license or registration do carry the possibility of a jail sentence and are therefore considered criminal.

I wonder if this is something that happens more often than one would suspect?

Amen.... absolutely senseless. I'd rather play golf.......................legallly!

So is the inevitability of people trying to justify bad behavior.

If they want to stick their noses in the air and make a course that excludes 99% of all golfers from ever getting a chance to play, when we happily would once or twice in our lives pay what I'm sure would be an asanine greens fee if they would only let us, then yes I'd love to sneak on and I wouldnt even repair my divots! muahahahaha

If you're 24 and are already saying you won't get to play these courses in a life time is crazy. You never know who will meet and what might happen that will help you get on these courses. I would however drop the I want it now mentality and put some of this "passion" towards not having your desk job forever then you might get to see augusta someday. I'm 28 so I get where you are coming from but I can tell you in 4 years my life has changed a lot.

Never said that.

I disagree. I could be felon and still point out to the OP that trespassing is wrong. I'm not, but that's beside the point. If I felt like some crime was ok to commit, came on to a message board to talk about it and share stories glamorizing it, it would be pointless to tell other members of that board to stay silent if they disagreed with me. Same as it was for the OP in this thread

Traffic tickets are civil law not criminal.

    • I am currently playing a Cobra Ltdx LS 9 degree driver and Cobra Ltdx LS FW3. Both with Tensei White stock stiff shafts and original weights of 12g (heel) and 3g (toe). My miss is usually a pull fade or sometimes a slice, swing is out to in. Driver swing speed about 112 mph. Grips are stock regular. Intended change: Driver: Switching to Tensei White x-flex one inch shorter which I suppose would be 44,5? Changing heel weight to 18g. Changing grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Change hosel setting to standard draw. FW3: Changing heel weight to 16g (apparently not available in FW weights, but supposed to be something called "internal weight" a club builder can add which fits between the weight and the screw?). Change grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Changing hosel setting to standard +1. The goal is to 1) get better grip since I tend so lose grip in warm and moist conditions with the current grips and 2) mitigate the misses to start more straight with less side spin. Also considering adding the Cobra Ltdx LS FW5 instead of my old Taylormade R9 and getting 14g heel and 6g toe weights with the same grip as the others and hosel setting standard +1.   All of the above is based on conversations with ChatGPT and, as everyone knows, it can come up with pretty much whatever but I spent a few hours asking about different perspectives etc and this was the recommendation. So, my question is basically, does it make any sense?   Thanks.
