I got my Taylormade Raylor 19* hybrid in today and I have absolutely fell in love! This club feels so perfect in every fashion and really does cut through grass like butter. Just with playing with it today I would seriously recommend this club to anyone! I got it off the pre-owned Callaway site nearly brand new in quality only $89 which I believe was an absolute steal. I can't wait to bring this out for 18 and also pair it up with the 22* club.

Sorry, but I was just really excited about this club and I have no one to really share my excitement with.

So what is everyone's favorite and least favorite club they have ever played with?

Nice looking club.

Favorite club...well after my 1st round with my mp58s I have to say I love my 8i. That thing is money.

How is the spin of the ball off those clubs? I've been looking that to replace my SW. I wasn't sure between that, Cleveland CG15, or the Callaway Jaws clubs

They are good and with a good ball you can stick it on the green with good contact with any wedge really but these have the Z grooves that give you spin similar to Vokeys and Clevelands IMHO. I am using the TP Black ball and really like it on every club, especially the wedges and putter.

That Hybrid looks really weird, I am tempted to go to a demo day, just to try it. Does that weird shape let it sit flat to the ground? Or does it make it really upright.

Honestly, I thought I'd have a problem with the way it would sit, but you don't notice it at all. The head looks small at address, but I liked that feature about the club. The area of the bottom face of the Raylor is less than a standard area of standard hybrid, so as long as it is addressed properly, it sits the same as any other club. And because of the hull-like bottom, and the decreased overall volume of the head of the club, there's noticably less drag through the grass and rough. This club just makes so much sense, and you should go try it out if you get the chance.

oh you are so lucky. i was going to buy that club off the callaway pre-owned site just to see what the raylor is all about. thats a great buy.

my favorite was my 2007 vokey 56.14 but then they discontinued the 56.14 for lefties and now i have to buy the 56.11
my least favorite is my callaway ft-9 tour

I have a question for you on the Raylor. Does the head have a draw bias?

A player's rep at a local golf shop said it does, and that I might hook the ball since I use neutral face driver and 3W. Sometimes a draw would be OK, but other times a little fade might help stop the ball on the green. My current 5W has a closed face, and I have to be careful so I don't hit "left turn" shots with it.

Focus, connect and follow through!

My Ping G10 5wd has the most awesome solid feel, and sound, when well struck. I love hitting that club.

Least favorite so far had to be Callawy ERC II driver that I put together, that thing was unbelievably loud and hollow feeling even on good shots.

My favorite club would be my 60* or my 6i. Least favorite would be my sand wedge. I always hit em thin.

Nice club though!

I honestly haven't had that effect at all. I do a lot of research on clubs before I buy them and I never read anywhere that this club was set up for a draw bias nor read a review with anyone having a draw-effect, and I wanted to make sure that it didn't because I like to keep my clubs neutral.

This is probably my favorite club for pure "feel". Louisville Golf Classic 50's 5 Wood. I bought it from a local clubmaker in Cooperstown last summer to commemorate the 74 I shot at Leatherstocking.

The Raylor is a sharp looking club! That was a great deal you got there as well...

My favorite club is my Cleveland XLS 3 wood, hit it smoothly and it just has a nice 5-8 draw on it everytime!

My Ping i3 20 degree 7 Wood.

I can hit it from any kind of lie, fairway, rough or fairway bunker, fly it high or keep it low, draw it, fade it, dial it down to 160 yards or ramp it up to 180 or so.

I had the 5 wood in the bag for a while, but the 7 is way more versatile.

My Ping i3 20 degree 7 Wood.

Plus, it's really a 5 wood, at least as far as I have always understood a 5 wood. If a 3 wood is 15 degrees, the 20 degree 7 wood leaves all of 4 degrees for the 4 wood and 5 wood.

That Hybrid looks really weird

I was thinking the same thing!

I can understand how the shape would help if you wanted to dig the ball out of the rough, but on a tight fairway lie it looks like it wouldn't sit very well?

I used this club today playing 18 and it really came in handy! It got through the rough like butter and hit dead straight which was amazing.

    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
    • Day 128 12-18 Worked on rotation and getting to lead side. Still working on the flow feeling while doing that. Recorded swings.
    • IMO-the only thing entertaining was the relay race. Everything else was excruciatingly boring...or just  stupid, like the 14-club thing. Watching guys blade wedges into the water over and over is not at all interesting.
