How to convince my parents..

Ok, basically I currently don't have access to my car. Usually I will get up around 7:0-8:30 in the AM to go play 18. My dilemma right now is my mom (my dad is out of town with my car) wont give me a ride up to the course that early, as it's summer time, and no one but me wants to wake up so early.

Any ideas as to how to convince my momma that I should get to go?

how old are you? getting a job and buyning your own car might be a good idea.
i'm not trying to be a jerk, its a honest suggestion. Having my own car opened up so much opportunities for me. Sucks having to rely on someone else.

Make a deal with her.

Do some jobs around the house, mow the lawn, vacuum, clean the bathrooms, clean the kitchen etc etc

It will feel better earned as well

My dad gave me his old car, a 08 STS. Anyways, his job has him travel to cleveland, and instead of putting the miles on his new car, he would rather put them on mine.. I don't know why, dont ask me. I do have a job also, just so you know. .

I do chores around the house, as in cleaning my room, cutting the lawn and all that jazz already.

How far away is the course? Do you have any friends who would go at that hour who have access to a car?

Would she be willing to let you go if it doesn't involve her waking up to drive you?

She would be willing to let me go. I haven't looked into asking other friends, dont forget, its summer vacation. I doubt anyone would want to get up that early! The course is only 3.5 miles from my house.

You may want to ask your friends. It's summer vacation: who wants to waste it

Before I had a car I rode my bike was only 5 miles to course. After a few times with clubs on my back the owner told me to keep clubs up there he had a spot for them so that made it easier.

3.5 miles would be a pretty cheap cab ride

bicycle was my thinking too, assuming dad doesn't allow him to use the new car.

This is probably the easiest way for the OP, if the course is within bike distance. Just leave the clubs at the course and ride there each day and no need to ask mom to help out.

Alternatively the thing about doing the household chores sounds like the next best option and those days that you have to ask mom for a ride in the car, make sure you at least make breakfast for her. Anyway, what's this thing about 7.30-8.00am being early? That's a lie-in for some of us!

Like others posted, see if you can somehow keep your clubs at the course, then bike/walk/run/whatever. When I was 12-15 I talked to the pro at the course I played and he let me keep my clubs in a back room in the pro shop. I would ride my bike 6 miles to the course pretty much every day. Pretty lucky that the pro let me do that, great guy. Once I turned 16 I started working there.

Why not take your dad's car to the course if he isn't using it?

Sounds like you have a lazy family, mainly you. Get on your bike and ride your lazy butt to the course if it means that much to you. And you mother staying in bed all morning. Good grief! Not saying what you want to hear, but then, I don't cater to everyone in that way. I respond to your questions/comments with an honest and sincere manner. Yes, I had a job mowing grass (4 yards) at 9 years old, and by the time I was in the 10th grade, I was working 7 hours a day after school. Not for the support of the family like in the real old days, but because I liked having my own money and being able to buy my own things. I could have done like you and slept late every day, gotten up and started complaining about how the world is against me since I might have to ride my bike a few miles to do something that I'm passionate about, but I had better ethics than that.

Now, either get your clubs loaded into a little cart that you can pull behind your bike, get a job and buy your own ride, or give sit at home in front of the television and play with your x-box all day. I would think that most 50ish aged people can relate to what I'm saying because they were probably like me... wore the tires off their bikes as a teenage. I had my first car at 15, but I worked for it. My dad paid the insurance.

Now, what other advice do you need?
