Somebody said the US + Mexico + Canada vs the world. How would that not be essentially the same as the USA v. everyone?

Mike Weir (and Camillo if you include SA) would have to switch teams.

Mike Weir would make that team in which universe? There are at least 2 South American guys who would. Still, it would be an arse kicking.

Okay-North and South America, and we get Rory, vs. everyone else...

The change they should make is switching it to every 4 years....then the presidents cup can be played in between....having a big team tournament every year waters it down and, quite frankly, is too much for the players.

That's a great idea. They could do it every 4 years, and invite all the countries of the world. The winning team could get a gold medal, second place would get silver and bronze for third.

Why does that sound so familiar?

too many countries.

It's been historically U.S V the British Isles and then they added europe. I don't think they should change anything else

Asia, Australia and South Africa don't have the talent yet to compete against U.S. or European teams in their own right. Maybe Asia will get there one day but I doubt the other two ever will - there have been good Aussie and South African golfers for a while now but they just don't have the golfing population to be able to stand on their own.

So let them lose every year until they get their isht together. Like the olympics. You dont see China taking their hockey team out but cmon. They'll never win.

I posted it, but you didn't read my post either. I said the "America

Sorry I miss read it, so basically camilo and maybe cabrera plus american vs rest of the world........lol

There's already the Presidents Cup and the International team have only ever won that once. Have you ever heard of the Royal Trophy? It's played annually between Europe and Asia - so long as no member of the Thai Royal Family has died. Asia won in 2009 and Europe only just squeaked through in 2010.

Europe also keeps itself entertained with the Vivendi (formerly Seve) Trophy in the Autumn of non-Ryder Cup years. It's GB&I; v Rest of Europe. Not sure how much longer it will survive, though, tbh. As the Seve Trophy it got a reasonable following but with the Royal Trophy, Ryder Cup etc, it gets a bit squeezed. On the Ryder Cup specifically, it works pretty well at the moment - but that may change if there is another run of crushing European victories. The ultimate solution is for the USA to get more good players and keep it as close to Sam Ryder's original intention as possible. PS - and no, jamo, you can't have Rory! Get your own young prodigy!

I love watching the Ryder Cup!! I think its pretty even the way it is, but eventually everybody else is going to catch up. At that point something might have to be done, but not right now.

Might have to be done? It's been done and it's called the Olympics.

The Ryder Cup is Europe v. The USA regardless of how good the rest of the world is.

Yea we all saw your cutsey bike. I am just saying how does Asia and Austrailia fit into Europe let alone South Africa. I am don't think that every country should have a Ryder cup team, just the predominate ones. SA has enough guys to make a team and so does Asia. UK doesn't need the other countries.

I disagree with "let's include ever region in the world" into this traditional USA v. Europe event. I've repeated myself, but when you add something compelling to this "debate" I'll add something new.

HEHEHEHEHE

Yeah we get two wild card picks! LOL Kinda like a designated hitter. To OP Ryder Cup is Ryder Cup. What you are talking about is a World Cup (like soccer/futball) type event. I would be down for that! Maybe every 4 years. Of course we do have golf in the Olympics to look forward to. But that in general is going to be an individual event.

I agree the Ryder Cup should stay the way it has been. However, I've always wanted to see some of the South Africans, Asians and Austrailians in the RC format. That's why I'm glad golf will be part of the Olympics.... I think if they adapt at least some of the Ryder Cup format it would be very entertaining.

I like it the way it is. It seems to be about the best golfers in the world competing in formats that we normally don't see. I can't explain why Europe does so well in modern times as the formats are not often played there either. But Europe seems to do very well in the foresomes and fourball formats and Americans in the head to head match play. A cultural thing maybe? In any case the Ryder Cup is one of my favorite events to watch.

As to including the rest of the world I think that is what the President's Cup does.
