I find a ton walking too. It isn't just in the woods but out in the middle of the rough. You just see more when your walking.

I would rather pay $150 for 12 balls than risk getting lyme disease (ticks)
yea yea, beak all you want, but until you see what lyme does to you and how it affects you AND your family...ill buy balls all day long

my bro in law's bro got lyme while golfing
call me paranoid if you want, but i put spray on before i even leave the truck

they are not too bad this time of year, but in the spring they are everywhere
if i smoke one in the bush, i hit a provisional, take a quick peek around where it went in ad if no dice, shes lost

I keep my eyes open when I'm looking for my own ball and usually wind up with more than I started with, even after losing a couple. However, I would not ever go out of my way to hunt for them. The ones I find usually just go in the practice bag, but if I'm having the kind of round where I lose more than the sleeve I start with, I'll usually use a found ball to play. Doesn't happen much, since I rarely lose a ball on my home course.

I don't go looking for balls, but if I see one I'll pick it up. I prefer to play the same brand of ball all the time.

I live near a course and every night I walk the woods and find dozens of balls. I've honestly never purchased a golf ball in my life although I've only been golfing for a year and a half.

I usually don't ball hunt unless I'm near a place where someone's likely to lose a ball (like tall grass or a shallow creek) and I'm waiting on whoever I'm playing with.

I love ball hunting. I'll ride my bike to my local course and find plenty of tour quality golf balls. This one time I found like 15 balls within 10 feet and a old club shaft. I have found many Pro Vs, TMs, Nikes and other good balls. This one time I found a bowling ball bag full of balls at my local course near the practice area. I took all the Titleists and ran.

just played 18 and lost a few balls found a few more. If i play a wooded course with high grass i tend to play a used ball. I also had lyme disease. The solution is take a bath or shower after your round and de-bug. If the tick is engaged in your skin for more than 12 hours the chances of infection are greater.... Antibiotics did the trick for me.

I used to, but I dont anymore. Its not worth being accused of stealing someone's ball just to save a few bucks.

At a course I used to play with my father in law at, they would all jump in the woods on the 18th fairway looking for balls.

It was just plain embarrassing to me. It's not like he needed them or couldnt afford them - some people just get into the *hunt*.

I am so glad the course I now play at with him has no wooded areas the last few holes.......

I don't really "ball hunt" but if I find a ball that someone lost or what have you; then I'd use it. Someone I knew, worked at a golf course and got fired for "ball hunting" and taking those balls and using them for personal use though.

I work at a course and we collect all of the random balls that people hit from the driving range... let's just say I haven't had to pay for golf balls since I started working there...

That's awesome. What kind of balls do you play with?

I play alot in the morning when i am the only one on the course. So I usually find a few balls, most of the times searching for ones that I miss hit. extra balls come in great for approaches over water.

If you look in streams that're close to a hole, then you'll probably find several.

Several years ago, I used to monitor scramble events at a local country club. Lots of Monday scrambles.

On Tuesday mornings, I would put on a small pack on my back and go jogging along the creekline of holes 12 through 16. I could usually find two dozen balls or more while running through the bushes and treeline, just pick them up and drop them in the pack.

Sometimes I'd find mostly Titleists, other times it was some second-rate Wilsons. All depended on what the golfers got in their scramble goodie bag. I have moved several times since then, and no longer play Titleists.

Focus, connect and follow through!
