I keep my clubs in my car at work regularily. But I have darkly tinted windows on the back, so you can't really see into the car unless you really look hard.

^again, mine was in the back seat of a pickup. The back windows are dark, but you can see through the front window. I just found out that the clubs will have to be covered by my homeowners insurance, so I have to cover BOTH deductibles. $250 on the car and $500 on house. Really sucks. Big time.

I could see them trying to get you to pay the higher deductible of $500 but how in the hell do they justify you having to pay both? Maybe you can tell them they should sue the owners of your workplace for negligence. Just because there is a sign up saying they arent responsible if you park there doesn't mean they don't have to provide a reasonably safe environment for your car. Especially if it was daytime. I know this because my friend won a small claims case where his jacket ($2000) was stolen from a nightclub that had a coatroom. They had a sign saying they're not responsible for lost or stolen items up too. But if they offer the service or area for you to store your valuables they need to take steps to protect them.

An opportunity!

Exactly why I never keep my clubs in my car.

Exactly why i always keep my clubs in the car! The chance for an insurance funded retool is amusing. Don't forget to claim the picasso.

Back to topic, car thieves suck & should be hung. I had one guy break into my car in the middle of the night. I busted him & chased him 3 blocks with my louisville slugger. Man some people can run fast when they're scared.

I don't think that having someone sue your place of business is a good idea. That money has to come from somewhere, and odds are its going to be from someone's payroll or bonus. I'm not sure if I'll have to pay both deductibles, but I would imagine so since they're with different companies.

Coatroom is different than a parking lot. No insurance policies that I can think that will cover additional items (golf clubs) unless coverage for additional items is purchased. Car and stuff attached to the car are usually covered. Probably covered under homeowners. So there isn't two deductibles for the golf clubs, just the homeowner's deductible. Car damage is a separate issue from the theft of the clubs.

Either way this completely sucks and I wish bad things for whoever broke into your car and took the clubs.

Haha, pretty funny responses guys. I thought about inflating some of the values, but I'm too honest of a person. The break in was actually at my business (was going to hit range balls after work). I have only a $250 declductible, which will be easily covered by the damages done to my lock which was stripped out and therefore wont lock on my drivers side, the likely new set of keys I'll need, and the interior fabric which was torn by them dragging the bag out. So, basically, I'll look to just replace them. I'll likely buy used clubs this time, and improve my driver, 3W, and putter. It didn't hit how out of kilter I'd feel until I got home and was going to go chip balls outside when I realized in addition to my clubs, a new box of Pro V1's, a pair of binoculars, and my golf gloves were in there as well. That part was kind of depressing.

I feel your pain. I had a radio stolen once and it takes a bit to get over it. I don't know if I would be too concerned about your insurance company. They will stick it to you laterfor making a claim. If they do, do that, get quotes from others that are cheaper and drop them like a hot cake.

That sucks I work in insurance and most likely you will have to pay both deductables even if your homeowners and suto were with the same company. Insurance companys will do anything to pay as little as possible. But I would def tell you to fund their worth and at leaset just make up your deductable if you dont wanna get a little more.

Some A-hole decided to break into my truck while I was AT WORK earning a living and stole my clubs out of the back seat. If there is one positive out of this, my insurance should buy me a comparable set for replacement.

File police report? Checking local pawns are your best bet to find them.

Did you have the s/n for your clubs recorded? Been thru all this and never got mine back. Good luck and hope it works out in your favor. Tazz

I left my 60º wedge on the 18th hole a couple weeks ago. I was looking around in a local store that sells used clubs and I saw a couple clubs of the same brand. I pick up the 60 and look at the shaft and see the same mark mine had on it. Whoever found it sold it there I guess so I think I'm just gonna buy it back since it's only $20.

Why don't you tell the store own/mgr that it was your club and request in to be sold to you for what he paid for it. It can't hurt to try.

Just a little update, I got a call just after lunch time today from the detective on the case informing me that he had found my clubs. Apparently they were going by a dope house for an unrelated reason, and saw the under armour logo on the bag. Everything was there except a windbreaker and binoculars that were inside. Apparently the person at the house had traded them for some drugs, and played around with them, because all of the golf balls were open and in a pocket vs in the boxes, and all were dirty. A couple of the clubs had mud and grass on them too, but they are all there and thats what matters! Law enforcement does its job well in Ennis, TX. Criminals Beware!
