I am curious if there is anyone else that knows the difference a warm up is on their game. I shoot 3-4 strokes lower after a warm up most of the time. Which sucks because I cannot always get one before play.

i don't have any hard data and never really took the time to think about it since I almost always warm up...but all i know is...if i don't warm up, my drives in the first 3 holes aren't pretty.

I need a bit of stretching and warmup to let my shoulders turn.

yea warm up is a must, even though I dont warm up enough really, Most of the time I just hit alot of chips and putts. But if I dont putt at all before I play it will be very likely I'l blow the first putt past the hole.

Always better. I think it's anywhere from 3-8 shots.

At the very least, I feel I need to hit short game shots for 15-20 minutes before I play. I also like to hit a few putts. I like to do full swing warm-up as well, but the extent of that varies based on where my swing is and (lately & especially) where I'm at health-wise. I have a screwed up back and I'm also fighting a wrist problem.

Putting is key, unfortunately the greens run at a different speed on the practice green than on the course....>:(

Chipping and putting, yes if there's time. Never the range though for me, before a round is not the time to work on swing fixes.

you shouldnt hit the range for swing fixes before a round... its to get your muscles a bit warmed up. i know myself personally, my shoulders tend to be a bit stiff without a proper warm up so I end up not getting a good shoulder turn and my drives can erratic without a warm up.

Yeah I guess I'm fairly young and flexible and don't feel the need, but maybe when I get older.

Dude I'm older than you!

I guess a few practice swings at the tee and I'm good to go.

It doesn't make a bit of difference for me if I know the course and greens. As long as I'm not hurried I am fine. I like to warm up but I've played great cold so to speak and played horrid with a really good warm up session. As long as I'm not running late I'm ok. Man though, if I feel hurried or I'm late, I can almost count on a double double start.

I always putt on the practice green and maybe hit a few balls at the range.....don't know how it effects my game though, I just like to warm up

I like to get there at least 30 minutes before so I can check in and stretch out for 25 minutes.... I find that to be more helpful than hitting 50 balls on the range.

I don't have any way to prove it other than feel, and nerves. When I go out without any warm up, I stink up the joint. When I make the time to warm up and hit a small bucket before the round I stink it up LESS. As a high handicapper, my swing is very inconsistent round-to-round. However, once I'm playing it pretty much stays the same for that day. I like to know before I start if today is going to be a slice/straight/draw day. That way, I know where my target should be that particular day. If I go out without warm up, I am like to try and force a change on the course which inevitably causes MASSIVE blow ups!

Though not 25 minutes of it, for me a few putts a few airswings and then stretching trumps range balls any time.

The courses I play do not have any ranges on site, but there is one course that does and I rarley get to play there. I would be willing to bet it would help me out a lot more. I do however make sure I streach and put around a little bit.

My warm up consists of 10-15 swings with a 7 or 8 iron and 5-10 more with the driver.

Without warming up I am not likely to hit a fairway with the driver on my 1st 9

Statistically speaking if you bet on "me + driver + front 9 = missed fairway" you'd win a lot of money.
