I cannot remember the rules for this game. I think its a point for the longest drive, the first on the green and the first in the hole but I am not sure of this.

One point for first on the green, one for closest to the hole once everybody is on the green, and one for first in the hole.

It can also be played first on the green, first in and lowest score although I don't see that version too often.

It is alot of fun to play it the way finoky said when you have a bunch of guys of different skills.

We play first on, closest to, first in and skins- each hole is worth $1 that way if you are playing well you dont get penalized. We developed this because some of my higher handi friends started playing for the beans instead of their score- it got really tiring paying someone you beat by 30 strokes.

The problem was you were playing golf and they were playing BBB. But I understand your comment and that's why I prefer different games that inspire you to play better golf. But I find BBB fun and play upon occasion. But the tactics necessary to win are not the same a tactics to get a low score so I don't turn in those scores (I think that would be akin to sandbagging).

so I take it for BBB you play the ball farthest first. That would be a little tedious around the greens. also shouldnt they have a point for longest drive since you are really getting penalized if you hit the farthest, cause its first on the green. The player who hits it the shortest gets the first try at hitting it the green

or is it strickly the number of strokes it takes a player. Like player 1 and 2 got on the green in 2, so would both get a point?

Sounds fun but if I'm playing this competitively with my friends I can see many problems arising when trying to figure out who is closest.

It's not strokes, no.

The game tends to be pretty even. The lower handicapper may get robbed of some "first on" because he's driving it longer, but he has the chance to get closest to the pin and make some good sized putts. The low handicappers can get the chipping down when the miss greens even if they never get a "first on" and they'll face their fair share of five-foot putts that they can make.

I played with a guy who took 5 shots to get it on from 50 yards away. He was trying to set up the perfect spot to make sure he was closest to. Needless to say we didnt allow that to go on for long.

Simple: add the provision that you need to get net bogey or better on the hole or your ball doesn't count.

I doubt this is generally a problem, though, as golfers tend to be more honest than that.
