The word of the day is Wow....as in Wow, that dude that used the golf club better hope he doesn't get an attempted murder charge applied to him....quite disappointing IMO.

there is just no place for that on a golf course. they shouldnt even be playing golf; they are out there for all the wrong reasons. just go to a bar or something if you want to drink and fight.

that's pretty funny and sad. can't imagine a bunch of suburban, middle-aged duffers (based on drinkage) slugging it out on the course. bet they go to the same church.

i wonder what club he hit the guy with... the way i read it, it sounded like the guy that got hit with the club wasn't hurt. i've accidentally dinged myself with a driver while messing around and it HURTS. if you hit someone in the face with it, i'd think the guys in a coma.

One time in my hometown of Cicero, IL, a bar fight ended up in the parking lot where I was standing with a couple of friend. One of the combatants pulled a putter from his car trunk and embedded it in the head of his adversary. The victim staggered away with the putter firmly stuck in his melon.

Never seen it happen on the golf course.

I'm not a fan of beer other than the occasional Guinness, so maybe my comments don't hold weight, but I don't think beer should be consumed ON the course, period.

I can chalk up most of my bad golf experiences as a child and an adult to being confronted with overlubricated a-holes.

Mild compared to what happened here at a local public course about 3 weeks ago. A guy in a group pulled a gun out on the group behind him for hitting into his group. He got 30 days in jail for that act of bravery. I am glad to hear that they just use fists and sticks in Chicago

Unfortunetly this is happening more and more. IMO, if the courses would stop worrying so much about money and give the marshalls some authority.

I'd like to see them going back to something like the 1st slow play offense, let the group in back play thru. If the slow play continues from the same group make them tee off from the 150 marker and if it happens a 3rd time they are asked to leave. Also I'd like to see courses say, "we expect you to play 18 holes in 4.5 hrs and even if you haven't finished your round and its been 4.5 hrs, you are done".

At Bandon on any of their courses they are all over you if you aren't playing fast enough. Yes, it can be iritating, but you get thru the round in 4 hrs.

I don't agree cuz not everyone is a a**hole when a little too lubricated. Besides, I like to sip on some Johnny Walker Black from my flask at times. Now if they start acting like good old whiskey tango's, its time for them to leave w/o a refund. That ought to not get them to come back and they are usually cheap to boot.

correct..the guy who got punched in the face received the most damage. That 57 year old must have been tapping the guy with the golf club and can be in no danger of "attempted murder". Manslaughter would be the correct term, but only if the guy ended up dying as a direct result of being hit.

Just absurd what some people will do on a golf course. So many bad attitudes out there, its ridiculous.

My philosophy on golf "We're not doing rocket science, here."

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
