This is completely a rambling post, but a couple thoughts popped up in my head today.

1. If Tiger is smart...I am pretty sure he

A. Won't get with Rachel Ucitel (per reports she wants him back) simply because he probably feels betrayed and on top of that the PR distaster that would come with Tiger hooking back up with a mistress, even for a real relationship would be crazy..plus why would she want someone when he was cheating on her with other girls....maybe $$$ :)

B. Probably won't be putting himself in places that wil get him in trouble. Honestly, he needs to hit the range, go to his hotel, get some food, go to sleep, and repeat with spending time with his kids mixed in. No bars, etc... even if he is single, just trying to repair his image should be a top priority.

2. remember the passionate Tiger we grew to love back in the early 2000's. The mega fist pumping, etc... I have a feeling we will see that again, regardless of what he said back at the Masters about calming his anger down. If he goes winless for much longer..when he finally gets in REAL contention...and I mean a Sunday contention...and he is hitting major putts and hitting great clutch shots...we will start to see that old Tiger attitude in my opinion. The winning will make him feel alive again, and if his passion is truly returning to his game since he still wants Jacks record...hopefully we will see a more driven Tiger that we used to see stomp the fields and fire up the tv ratings.

A Tiger who is fist pumping, winning by 7 shots is just plain exciting to watch, more so than any other player.

Will we see Tiger winning by those margins again..I don't know, the young competition is getting very good and hungry, but the more Tiger refines his swing and moves away from his Haney swing business, and remains winless..I just think we will begin to see some real excitement in his eyes and passion. We see sparks of it with the last few tournaments...wait till he is a real Sunday contender...I can't wait.

Good post. I'll reply inr egards to #2. I agree, it excites me to see when Tiger plays a good round.

I think we've definitely been seeing glimpses of early 2000 Tiger, such as the Barclays round one. Now the question is...can he keep that momentum going for all 4 rounds? WIll we see Tiger winning by large margins again? I think so. As Tiger stated in the recent press conference, he's stilla djusting to his new swing and if he doesn't think through, he gets stuck between his old and new swing. I think once he really adjusts to his new swing, we'll see him in contention.

I'm not holding my breath but I do feel int he back of my mind he's still got a absolutely great career ahead of him.

Tiger was widely believed to have long term political implications. Maybe being a serial philanderer makes him more credible as a politician, but either way, if he wants to revive that plan, he should choose a nice politician's wifey looking woman, who will be blonde, of course, Tiger likes blonds, and he needs to avoid slappers like Rachel Uglitel and lap dancers for the time being.

OK, I'm a crappy golfer but I spent a good while in politics and let me tell you, Tiger can forget about getting elected dog catcher let alone any higher office.

As far as game goes, I reckon he'll get both of his back. Insert joke about holes here.

Didn't Marion Barry get arrested for cocaine before being elected mayor or something?

I don't think Tiger cares about politics, really, making it a moot point (potentially).

Nice opening post. I agree. I am not sure about winning by large margins but he will win again a bunch. He will go back to a similar swing he had when he was younger and start making tons of putts.

Slightly different constituencies.

But I agree with you. I think Tiger has discovered there's much to be said for having a private life.

If Tiger enters even a semi-committed relationship with anyone for the next few years, he is an idiot plain and simple.

I actually think the Tiger that comes back will be better than ever before. The enthusiasm and brashness of 2000 with the wisdom and patience (golf-related) that comes from being a bit more mature.

He will never be like before. His body will not let him.

wat does that even mean? have you seen his swing lately? sure its different from before but he's still got an absolute amazing swing.

There is no flow, or even a look of feel from my point of view. But of course.... its my point of view. Like I said before.... he looks way to rigid. I believe he has a case of the mid thirties muscle rigidity. The body changes over the years, and the sooner he makes swing changes to fit his body................ the better off he will be. About his swing..... its no better than alot of players out there. Tiger is a winner because he has the balls to face the pressure better than 99% of the others out there.

Mentally, Tiger could come back even better than before. He can pretty much do what he wants in his personal life without fear of getting caught which has to be a relief to him. He also has less distractions as a single man, so he can spend the time he needs fixing his game without a wife nagging him about spending enough time with the family.

Game wise, he's going to lose some distance as he gets older, but he will also get smarter with age. Last tournament he knew his driver was questionable, and he stuck with his 3w on long tee shots to stay on the fairways. I'm not sure the young Tiger would have made the same decision. The guy is an amazing athlete and golfer, so I can't see him making the changes he needs to his game to remain competitive long term.

Do you really think that his sponsors wouldn't care if he was seen whoring around town? Given the amount of money he has already paid to his previous sex partners, I doubt he would put himself in that position again. And as far as spending time with his family, I think that has already been determined for him by the divorce lawyers.

Interesting that you would have such negative thoughts about family time.

1) He did ••••• around (while he was married) and his sponsors either didn't know or didn't care. Let's deal with some reality here, sponsors know professional athletes are going to ••••• around, they just don't want to read it in headlines.

2) I don't think he's going to become celibate, so yes I think he will have new sex partners, and maybe some old ones. 3) I don't have negative thoughts about family time, I quite enjoy my family time, but I wasn't talking about me, I was talking about Tiger. His wife is out of the picture, the lawyers decided for him when he will have family time, the rest of the time is his.

http://www.kcra.com/r/22070834/detail.html Could be the reason that Accenture, General Motors, Gatorade, AT&T;, Gillette, TagHeuer have either de-emphasized their involvement with Woods, or have canceled their endorsement contracts with him, costing him an estimated $22 million last year, and costing his management firm, IMG, almost $5 million.

Accenture, AT&T;, Gillette, TagHeuer = yes

GM = Tiger and GM agreed to end their relationship early, and that was a year or more before the scandal broke. Gatorade = his product wasn't selling and Tiger was already being phased out months before the scandal. In general, yeah.

You're missing my point...they cared because he got caught. The sponsors I'm sure knew he wasn't a choir boy, they cared about his public image, not his private life. He had these affairs over the past few years while he was getting sponsored by all of the above.

If he wasn't married and his wife didn't find the text messages which led to the car accident who knows if any of this would have ever come out.

Whats happening to Mr Woods reminds me of a old John Lenon quote, "Life is what happens to you when you are busy making plans." Meaning that his life has expanded expodentally since late 90's and early 2000's and golf is no long just the focus. Can he come back to where he was? I think so, however I don't think we will see him win by such great margins and I think we will see him challenge a lot more, which would be very refreshing.
