My wedge setup was 47 - 50 - 54 - 58 and at a point I liked my 58 way better than the 54 to use from the sand, so I left the 54 at home for a while and later I bought a 52 to fill up the gap and went to 47 - 52 - 58

Large gaps ..... I hear you !

Maybe, maybe not .... then I started to use the 58 for chipping and pitching aswell I soon discovered that the 52 was hardly used anymore, left it at home ......

Now my wedge setup is 47 - 58 and it is perfect !

The less choices .... the better ?

Seems like a 52 might still be handy for some full shots. But I guess if you are happy taking a bit off your pitching wedge, why bother?

I have a 52 (hardly ever used), 56 (used for everything near the green) and 60 (hardly ever used). Have been thinking about going to just the 52 and a 58.

Stretch.

Like you mentioned in my thread Gerald, I think the less options you have the better. Lately I've been playing with 45*-52*-56* (the 50* is enroute and due to replace the 52*). I can see 45-50-56 being a great setup for me and gives me a purpose to learn shotmaking with fewer clubs.

I do wish I could open my 56* and hit a flop though. I tried during my last practice round and failed miserably. 3 times I bladed the damn thing. Went to the range and hit like 5 perfectly. I don't get it.

I too find the flop shots very hard and for me it only works when the ball sits up high in the grass ..... so hard to control from other lies, but there are allways so many options ....... most time amateurs trying to hit a flop shot, disaster around the corner, mostly because blading it or too less swing speed......

45 50 56 for me. Yes, fewer choices work great for me. A 56 wedge has always been in my bag and it really is my go to club for anything 80 yards in. Real tight lies near the green call out the 50 for its low bounce. I LOVE the MP T10s btw. If I ever made a change it would be to add a 52 or 54 and make it 53. 85-95 yard shots can be a bit of a hunt for me as my 50 likes to go go go. I could hit my 56 farther, sure. But, I like a nice "feel" swing at about 75% strength for shooting at the pin.

My irons are so strong I consider myself carrying 2 wedges, 50 and 56.

I'm currently at 47* PW - 56* - 60*

Previously I was using 47 - 52 - 56 - 60, I've also played around with 47* - 53* - 58*

I like having the extra loft on my 60* and between my 47* and 56*, I usually have my distances covered.

If you're sticking with the 58* I say go with either a 54 or 53 (bend a 52 or 54)

That's what I have right now. I hit solid cut shots with 56 (open up just a few degrees), but not true flops.

Check out some of the wedge sites, they say really opening up the club works best with Dynamic Sole Grind, or similar shapes. DSG removes metal from heel and toe areas of sole, cutting down on drag when really rolling it open. Again, a cut shot may be more reliable than a flop with your current wedges. Have been considering a 50-54-58. Got a good deal on a slightly used CG14 58.10, will try it out. I'm wondering if 58* might help in really dense, shaggy rough. Have not had good luck with 60* LWs I have tried in past.
