Mizuno JPX 800 Pro

My local shop has a few heads, but no complete sets yet. I may go hit them today. Anyone have any experience yet? Forged, game improvement from Mizuno.

I hit one at a demo day last week. Felt great. I won't be trading in my MP-57s though.

What was wrong with the MX series? They were some of there best sellers. Leave the ugly irons over in Japan.

I just, purchased the JPX 800's and love them. I bought them to replace my Srixon I-506 irons (started playing blades and my handicap jumped). I hit X-22's, G15's, TITLEIST AP1's, Burner's, and the JPX were the longest and best feeling of the group. I have no regrets at all ... you have to hit them and you will see what I mean

If they're longer than the Burners, which have 2 degrees less loft through most of the set, then Mizuno must have added some pixie dust to the grain flow forging process. No problem at all believing they felt better, though.

The Burners were equivalent if not longer than the JPX. I did not find the consistency with the TM's that I did in the Muzuno's, although they came in a close second in the group of irons that I hit.

The jpx 800 are cast and the pro are grain flow forged.

Anyone get the mp 53 or mp 63? I was wondering if they are as easy to hit as they say, apparently the 53's are supposed to be easier to hit than the MX 300's. Anyways just wondering if they are worth they dough or should I just hold off until next fall for the mp58/68 replacements.?

Another option is to look at the MX-200. Similar to the 300, just a bit of a larger clubface.

Still has that famous Mizuno feel to them and with the new models coming out, perhaps you can find a deal on the 200s.

I'll have to go hit a few balls to see if the MP-53s are that easy to hit, but just by looking at the picture, it did seem very forgiving on mishits.

The perimeter weighting seemed more like those of a SGI irons. More than the MX-300s. Either way, I hope it still has the sweet feel of the Mizuno irons. Can't wait to try them out. Dan

I live in the frozen tundra and its been raining and in the 40's-50's so I haven't had a chance to demo them yet. I think that I'm gonna hold off and play my Titleist 755's until next fall and than check out the replacements for the MP58/68 model.

Well, I didn't obsess over the decision, just went and bought a set of new JPX 800 Pro on Saturday. Absolutely love the looks. With Dynalite shaft, the clubs feel very balanced in my hands. Played a round yesterday and I think I made a great decision for me. Didn't play that well, but it wasn't the clubs. They appear to be very forgiving. On a par 3, I took a terrible swing that that left a divot pattern that started 2 inches behind the ball, with the toe just barely catching the ball. The ball went straight and came up only 15 yards short.

Very happy with the decision and look forward to many years of enjoyment. Btw, with the amped up lofts, I went with 4 thru Gap, which almost matches my old 3 thru P.

Just got these a week ago and I love them. Mizuno wasn't really on my list when I when into an iron fitting, but after hitting balls for almost 2 hours with a ton of different clubs, this produced the best results by far for me. The fitting was fantastic itself, and with the technology I could see the hard #'s about how all of the clubs performed. My distance was more than 10 yards longer with this 6 iron versus the Taylor Made Burner 2.0's, and I was I also hitting it much straighter and with higher backspin. I had older Taylor Made irons prior to this.

I demoed and love these clubs. I am gaming the 52s right now but am going to get a set of pros as my second set. I was hitting them longer than the 2.0s but only, in my opinion, because the fitting allowed me to ad 1/2 " and 2 degrees upright....so the clubs fit. I think that is why people see these as so long compared to some of the others.....they are fitted correctly on the spot.

I demoed the JPX-800 Pros and MP-53s today. The JPX are very nice clubs, but I hit the 53s just about as far and thought they had the clear edge on feel.

I hit the JPX-800 Pro 6i at Golfsmith a few days ago and really liked it... If I was in the market for new clubs (which I'm not) these would make the list of clubs to consider for sure.

I demoed the 800 pros and the 53s. To me, the 53s were the clear winners but the 800s were sweet. I just couldn't get past the top line

Waiting for delivery of my JPX-800 Pro's from Mizuno through Golfsmith. I ordered 7 iron - PW all .5" long and 1* flat. That 1* flat was from my teacher when I was fitted by him for my Fusions in 2005 (based on my size and how I SHOULD swing). The .5" long was based on the Golfsmith guy's measurements of my hand to floor. Since Mizuno's are all .25" shorter than most irons, I'm not worried about the .5" extra he talked me into. But the lie has me worried. I did some digging and find that the JPX-800 Pros are already much flatter than my Fusions and any current Callaways. So, Golfsmith and I are trying to change the order to standard lie while it is process. Not sure how that is going to work. Note: I only ordered 7 iron - PW. Ordered two wedges separately.

Question are:
1. Since Mizuno are flat, should I order by lie number or is there a reason they should be different/flatter than my old clubs? For example, standard Mizuno 7 iron is already 1* flat compared to the standard Fusions. But they become even fatter through the set until the 9 and PW standard Mizuno is 2* flatter than the standard Fusions.

2. Is there a reason these "better player" irons get flatter than other manufactures' clubs as you drop down through the set?
