A gun? What good is a gun if you can't hit your 4 foot putts? Odds are we'd all pull too quick on the trigger and send it right. Better to carry a Heavy Putter for self defense.

Clubs, tees, balls, TOWEL...all ya need.

Plus either money or water. I'm parched just thinking about 4 hours without a beverage.

I can't believe so many folks have jacked up hands and need tape. I practice a TON and play (in the summer, when I'm off) 5-7 rounds per week. I have a callus on my left ring finger that's really minor, and that's it. The only time I ever got blisters is when, after I first started playing again, my grip was really screwed up. Do you guys use hand lotion on a regular basis? Yes, you might think it's girly...but there's nothing more nasty than dry, flaky, blister-y hands. Not just for golf, but professionaly and personally. Take care of yourself, lads! And get your grip right. I find it helpful

For me (and I'm going to try not to do terribly obvious stuff), in no particular order:
1. A plastic bag full of dimes. I use them as ball-markers. It's become a necessity. In a pinch, if I forget, I can use a penny. If I use a nickle, a quarter or (gasp) an actual ball-marker, I'm convinced the world will be thrown off its axis and the terrorists will win (in that order).
2. My ugly pink warm-up donut I got off a clearance shelf in Meijer for 99 cents.
3. A second towel that's used for sweat in the heat and, occasionally, blowing my nose when it's cold. There are certain contexts where outdoor snot rockets are inappropriate; of course, there are occasions where outdoor snot-rockets are awesome. Knowing what's appropriate and when is quite a life skill. I'm working on it and (mostly) failing.
4. Nuts (preferrably almonds, but they're pricey) to snack on. If I don't have nuts, I'll rob a granola bar from my lunch stash. There's nothing worse than trying to concentrate while hoofing up and down hills with that peckish feeling.
5. A caffeinated beverage. Yeah I said it. I drink Diet Pepsi, b*tch - and a lot of it. It's terrible for you, it's diuretic as hell, it's bad for your nerves but I love it. Nothing gives me the courage to stick a wedge close like a big slug of Diet Pepsi. Mmmmmm.

I make sure to keep a few decent sized bandaids in my bag. Nothing can ruin a round quicker than having a cut on your hand or finger and needing a bandaid and not having one. I've given away more than I've used but they sure do come in handy if you need one.

- Pitchfork ( we see soooo many without)
- at least 6 dry leather gloves (so I can grab a dry one every 2-3 holes) and also 2 all-wheather gloves
- birdie book (made my own ..... it is better than a GPS or RF)
- iPhone (business goes on)
- Jack D.

Other than balls/tees/clubs...

rangefinder
gloves
bottle for water
towel
divot tool
rain gear/umbrella (unless there is 0% chance of rain)

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

1. Gloves (at least two to rotate)
2. Ball marker (coins or actual ball markers, it doesn't matter to me)
3. Divot Tool (actually carry two, the Scotty one on my headcover and a switchblade one that I got as a gift)
4. Water
5. Some sort of snack (usually a granola bar or something like that).
