From what I've heard, Mike doesn't putt very well. And there's a lot more to playing on tour than being able to hit it well. Mike is very impressive in person. Can hit any shot on call using borrowed clubs.

I think he was on the nation wide tour in his younger days?
Yeah I've also heard that his short game is average. But damn he does have a nice swing, especially with the driver. Looks so effortless.

I wish he could have done better on the tour, but me being selfish, he didn't make the tour and switched to teaching and it turned out it was better for those who benefited, like me, from his teaching, no?

He'll probably have more of an impact on golf as it worked out than if he succeeded or maybe playing on the tour might have just delayed SnT, who knows.

Swing tempo is nice and smooth.

Yeah, beautiful. Love that controlled finish, reminds me of Luke Donald, albeit a bit shorter.
A great shot is when you go for it and pull it off. A smart shot is when you don't have the guts to try it. ~ Phil Mickelson.

You don't have to be a "great" putter if your ball striking places you at a consistent good proximity to the hole. Mike is a great ball striker but who knows, maybe the stress and pressure in a tournamnet setting affects his ability to execute the shot.

I wonder how many struggling tour pros wish they didn't have to play every weekend, spending valuable time away from their family, just to keep their card.

Is Trevor Immelman going S&T these days? They've shown a few shots of his in Las Vegas today, and he is displaying an uncanny finish position.

No. Y.E. Yang just started working with Mike and Andy recently, though. He didn't have a very good 2010.

Agreed, that's a great looking swing.

Does Mike play a push draw? I think I remember reading that one of Mike or Andy plays a push draw and the other plays a push fade, but I can't remember who plays which shot.

Also, if you freeze the down the line video in the follow through, I noticed that at least for this swing Mike's club shaft tilts to the left on the follow through for a moment before he tilts it to the right for the signature Stack and Tilt finish. Doesn't this mean he didn't hold the flying wedge on this swing?

He loses it a bit. The "left and then right" is simply because the plane is left, and then he re-hinges the club.

I'm not going to get too specific, but in one of his Q-school rounds last year, Mike hit 15 gir and shot 77.

geez, putting must be bad. Putting for birdie on 15 out of 18 holes and you shoot 77? how is that possible, lol

It's not possible. I have it on good authority that putting is the easiest part of the game. If you can the sweet spot with a 3-iron you can sink putts all day long. It's science.
