maybe a silly topic, but cant seem to find a "happy" spot to put the ol putter
I have a Scotty Cover (not pictured) for my putter, that is a little bigger, but protects nice

where do you put yours and how do you structure your clubs in your bag
here is an older pic of where i have tried mine

(none of the clubs pictured are in the bag anymore, but thats besides the point.....)

i found the 4 iron got in the way as it is in this pic, but 4 irons per slot is almost too much

and yes.....its winter, im at work waiting for paperwork to be faxed...and bored...don't hate...

I keep min up next to my driver and hybrid, although this is in a standard Ping 4-Way top. I like it up at the top of the bag because it's out of the way of the iron heads.

In the Bag: TaylorMade R11 TP - TaylorMade R7 TP TS - Cleveland Halo - TM TP 2009 3-PW - Vokey SM 52 - Vokey SM 60 - Rife Barbados CS - ProV1x

Ditto. Same pocket as driver and 3-wood. The woods sit up high enough that the putter is easy to locate and pull out. (Also, I've got an over-size grip on my putter, so I need a non-cluttered pocket for easy insertion and removal.)

does your putter cover not sit above the pocket hole tho?

i know it doesnt w the PING bag, but i cant fit my cover in the pocket with a driver shaft in there....let alone 2 ok i got it... forgot I dropped my 52º ..... this should work fine now OR i hate having the putter in the way of the iron heads...so i think the first option will work best

Funny you should mention this.

I've always had my long clubs at the top of bags, ie D, 3w etc, but always found it annoying pulling out irons underneath. I've just purchased a completely new set and now sort them like this:

TOP
D / 4, 5, 6, 7
3W / 8, 9, PW, GW
2H, P / 54.14, 60.07

Works perfectly. I've got the S-83, so no probs with 4 irons in each hole.

A) You need to hit alot of different clubs.
B) Whatever works for you.
C) It's the indian, not the arrow.
D) A 5 wood, 19* hybrid or a lob wedge.

I have a bag with individual dividers for 14 clubs. Never had one before but I like it. It goes something like this....

---------Driver-------
Hybrid-----------Putter
Two --- Three --- Four
Five - Six - Seven - Eight
Nine-Wedge-52 Gap-Sand

I also have a Cameron and even the dividers down in the short iron row caused the putter cover to get all smashed when the putter was put in there, as the butt end of the grip did not reach the bottom of the bag. So I bought a .99 cents plastic golf tube, cut part of a big car wash sponge and shoved in in the BOTTOM of the tube, taped it off with a piece of duct tape, and put my putter in there, and in the slot shown above. The grip hits the sponge, the cover sits nicely 1 inch above the top of the tube, and the tube does not stick out of the top of the bag. You don't even know it's there....

Commence calling me a genius now please.

I actually started thinking about this again and may switch back from my 9" staff cart bag to my 10.5" staff bag just so my clubs don't feel cramped. I think I need medication...don't worry I will share!

But im actually having the same issue with my bag.  Ive been through a couple different slot configurations and I've settled on putting my putter in the top slot since its the most convenient.  I have a Cameron putter and the cover gets smashed and the velcro sticks to the bag for exactly the reason you described above.  Kind of amazing when you find someone with your same issue.

So anyway, any chance you can take a pic of what you did and post it?

Great idea - I am really sick of having to back track on the course to find my scotty head cover. Even had a guy steal one when it came off (he tried to tell me that it was his head cover on a walmart special)

    • Day 12 (21 Mar 25) - Weekly Friday men’s group shootout.   Tough winds (10-20 mph hurt going out and just as fast help coming in) made for tricky play on all shots.  It made for a very conservative round of coarse management.  Add that the greens were firm and fast and it was an interesting day all the way around.
    • This is a decent sized carpet python we had to move from beside the green on Hole 3 at my home course. These are non-venomous but would give a damn painful bite and you’d be almost certain to get an infection without antibiotics.    The ones you need to avoid that are common here are eastern browns and redbelly blacks. They are angry and aggressive if provoked whatsoever. And deadly. So it ain’t worth looking for a ball in long grass!
    • I'm having trouble picturing this. Could you take a photo of the area with your ball near where it was, or draw a picture, or point us to Google Earth or something?
    • Day 42: 3/21/25 Weight shift drills and slow motion swings.
    • Absolutely love this concept. I try very hard now in my practice to just get something to work, ignore how it looks or why, then go execute it until it stops working. Then work out what to change next. As long as my stats are improving I'm happier (I'm never happy, just happier or not happier :-)).
