We launched two new sections today at naileditgolf.com (Preowned and closeouts) to our site and changed the layout... what does everyone think? Give me the good and the bad, thanks!

I'm just a little confused.

I think one of the things that worked to your advantage was that people felt that they had to buy the equipment before it was made unavailable, and the equipment could be made unavailable in one of two ways:

  1. Sells out.
  2. Day ends, next deal begins.

If #2 is no longer true, people aren't going to feel the need to snatch up the bargains immediately, instead opting to wait a little bit. You seem to have lost the "impulse buy" mental push that the old site had. The site now looks more like an inexpensive retailer of closeout clubs, and if the prices are going to be the same even after the day ends, what's the rush to buy anything?

If you plan to stick with this more laid back method, I think that the very least you should make the "deal of the day" a bit more prominent in some way.

And of course I could be wrong. :-)

Thats what were battling with right now, as a new site were trying to decide if we offer only one deal or many... were trying both right now to see what happens

Very cool. There are nothing but nice equipment deals all over the site. Definitely made my bookmarks.

Yeah, I gotta agree there, by sticking with only the deal of the day, people will feel more rushed to make the purchase. Of course, this doesn't do much to clear out the stuff you didn't sell out of.

On the home page, maybe do away with the Hot 5 on the left side and make the home page only contain deal of the day and the right side nav bar? Then have the Hot 5 on the left side on the cat/Closeouts_50.aspx page.

I guess another option might be when you sell out of one deal of the day, bring back one of the items you have back stock on. Or periodically try to clear it out in the same fashion as a woot-off.

Then perhaps it might be nice to make that clearer on the daily deal? Really get people to make a decision quickly. You want impulse buyers, not buyers who consider waiting. I think...

I was going to say, yeah, that's how Woot-Offs work, right.

Site looks good, maybe to be able to have the best of both worlds offer free or cheaper shipping on deal of the day so the impulse is still there but for those who like to think it out  all they will be out is shipping costs.

I think he said that the cost goes up when the item is no longer the deal of the day. I've proposed he make that more obvious to give the user incentive to buy quickly.

I would agree, something that lets the customer know to act now for that price.

Hi Cody. I'm having trouble contacting the site regarding a tracking number for an order I placed on Monday (order # 432). Three attempts, and no luck. Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi Cody, great site.  I didn't see what it looked like before today but I really like it's simplicity and clean navigation.  Like others noted above, increasing the price on a product on leftover stock after a Daily Deal is just fine.  I agree with Iacas, that you need to make that a bit more clear.

Again, great site, I'll be shopping with you on my next purchase.

I liked the concept that you had, one day, one product one great price. I checked it daily waiting for the items I am wanting. Now it just seems like a discount store with no "buy now or miss out on a deal" feeling Obviously you know your business needs and have to do what is best for your biz, but I liked your old marketing scheme better. It was unique. If you have multiple inventory items available maybe carry them on that site and setup a new one www.deal-of-the-day-golf.com Best of both worlds, a variety of items on one site and a singular focus impulse deal for the other. Just my .02

Thanks for all the input, the deal of the day is our main objective... we just wanted to give customers another option but we do have a good idea of what our next steps are going to be thanks to all the feedback from our customers and the sandtrap so look for those updates as soon as tomorrow... Also on the tracking... obviously things are crazy over here right now with the launch of the new site so they are taking about 24 hours to respond to emails but they will get back to you, thanks everyone for your help

I'm still waiting on tracking information from my order, and in four attempts to contact the site via email I have had 3 messages sent back, and one sent to nailedit@host291.hostmonster.com has not been acknowledged. . I realize you are switching over to a new site, but I'm curious why I can't get any messages through. I know you said they are taking 24 hours to respond to emails, and that's fine, but I can't get any emails delivered for anyone to respond to. Can you please give me an address to send an email to that will work? In addition to the one listed above, I have had messages returned from the following:

 orders@naileditgolf.com
 Sales@thegolfhabit.com
 sales@thegolfhabit.com

Thanks

    • Ready golf except in match play. Match play is different.
    • Yep! I have both a FJ jacket and pants in rainwear that I bought years ago. I don't use them very often so they've lasted a long time. But, they're heavy and hot! They were made before GoreTex and other waterproof, breathable fabrics. My advice? Get the absolute best you can afford! They will last you a long time, they will keep you comfortable, they will be light, and they won't impede your swing very much.
    • Thanks for all the responses. I think this boils down to the context of the situation. I had two of the foursome busting chops about hitting out of order on previous holes. Then the first time it was mildly inconvenient for them to wait, the holed out just as i hit the green. Mind you.  This wasnt an "adventure" hole.. I hit the green on stroke 5 because of a flub shot that went about 10 ft. And an errant approach that left me about 10 yards short of the green. In any other case I agree that its perfectly fine to hit when ready, but not if you complain about hitting out of order. I guess to paint the picture, one whipped a club on the 3rd hole due to sculling a shout out of the bunker.. on another hole had one of them walking towards green right in front of my approach.. he nicely moved about 3 yards to the right as i asked him to move. As karma would have it, i hit the shot straight at him and nearly hit him.. these were friends of mine.. so a lesson learned to play golf with different friends..
    • Picked one up and checked it out in a store the other day. First thing I noticed about it was how heavy it was. Reminded me of when I went out for the HS golf team, and the coach had a Driver with a solid steel head on it. He advised us that we were NOT to hit drives with it! It was for warm up only. Being as heavy as it is, I think the main benefit to it might be that it slows your transition from backswing to downswing. There's a whole lot of guys who could use that!
    • OK, this kind of clears things up for me. I thought you might have been trying to take close ups of clubheads impacting golf balls. In that case you'd need something numbering in the several thousands of fps! If all you need is to look at swings I'd say anything the budget allows should suffice. Consider the 960fps system mentioned. If a golf swing takes about I second, at a playback rate of 30fps, that gives you a swing video of 32 seconds in length. Plenty long enough to see the golfer's bodily motions. Considering how small the clubhead will appear when videoing the entire golfer, I don't know that fps is the main consideration. It could be pixel count and the quality of the lenses. This reminds me of my "audiophile" days when cassette tapes were all the rage. I had a BIC deck that could record at 7 1/2 ips (inches per second), and an Audiovox car player that could play back at that speed. The sound quality was amazing! You were putting the same amount of info into twice as much space! There was so much more room!
