Long time no see Sandtrap.

Spent 2010 working on some changes... among them a move to a place where i can golf year round (yay!); but also on having a more connected backswing and wider shoulder turn.

I'd like to share with you a couple swings to gather some feedback.

Like anything else, while my swing is better now, imo, my handicap is a shot or two worse.  Used to be a 0.5, now around a 2.5.  I hope that once I get acclimated to these one or two miniscule things (which feel completely different) my hcp will drop.

Putting has improved this year, which means that the swing changes have really affected my ballstriking consistency.

anyhow.  yes the clubface is slightly close at the top.  Im working on getting it between that and square for this year... mostly a slight grip change.

First couple of swings I am hitting a 7 iron, mizuno mp 67, s300 shafts.  The ball is flying 170 yds, slightly into the wind, with more elevation than I would like and a slight draw.

Second couple of swings with the driver, r9 supertri S shaft.  Ball is going 290-295 total.  Straight to a slight draw.  Thanks for looking!

Right knee should not shoot towards the ball like it does... Got a face-on view?

Look up some of the swings mvmac has posted. He has some videos where he's doing a drill that will help keep his right knee from "crossing the line" (a line drawn down the line from setup, the right knee shouldn't go through it at any point in the swing).

any thoughts please are welcome.

This is a 7 iron, high ball flight going about 170 with no roll out, but about a 10 yard draw.  Two different swings, same club.

I see my head drop towards impact on the first but not second swing... any one else catch anything?

Thanks,

Daniel

Hard to tell but, face looks shut at the top of your swing.  Not to shabby you remind me of web simpson with your follow through

thanks for your comment... I have always had that slightly shut face at the top, although not completely shut, it is slightly shut you are right, hence the draw.  I just cant think about opening it up at the top, seems to mess with my mojo... :(.  I kind of compensate with fast hips, but it makes it harder to be consistent, you are right.

Really nice swing. Please post a face on view. The main thing I'd work on: I think you could extend more with the legs and arms with pelvis pointing more up going into impact and finish. Make some swings feeling that your belt buckle faces the sky at impact. Pelvis forward and up with leg and arm extension drill into impact. Then, work on your right elbow--it gets a bit behind you at the top (which is contributing to the slightly across the line at the top look)--you correct nicely and get your right elbow in front pointing at your belt buckle going into impact. Make swings, feeling that your right elbow is pointing at your belt buckle at the top of your backswing. thanks a ton, the first video is very, very helpful for me to understand something I have been lacking.  Thanks.

I agree with uttexas. You need to add extension to avoid your rt leg kicking in towards the ball. There are some still videos on here where you can put a tripod in-front of your rt. leg to avoid moving it in towards the ball.

I wouldn't mess much with your face. It would also be helpful to provide a face on.

What are your misses? Overdraws?

Heh. I just merged the "2011 swings" thread back into the original "My Swing" thread. Look post #2 .

Suffice to say, keep working on that piece. It's better, but a lot of people are seeing it. That's usually a good sign.

    • First, it is on free TV. NBC is free to anyone with an antenna, and is on almost any TV in the U.S. with a minimal amount of effort. Charging "a bargain price" would be incredibly dumb. They charged $750 and the event sold out almost immediately. You could better argue they should have charged MORE, not less. What happens if you charge less: ticket scalpers buy up even more of the tickets because they see value: if tickets were $250, they'd clearly have sold for $1k or more on the secondary market. That's tremendous value. Fans would end up paying the same or more, or just not being able to go. Sure, a few who happened to be online at the precise moment on a fast connection and didn't fumble with their credit cards might have gotten tickets for $250, but the secondary market and ticket brokers would have scooped up the vast majority with automated processes and bots and scripts, then re-sold them later on. This way, fans get to purchase the tickets, and the PGA is earning that revenue, not the secondary ticket brokers. Econ 101. Supply and Demand. Nope.
    • Edit - the link has no title, but basically Tiger wants $5 million for each US player to “donate to charity”   They could put the Ryder Cup on free to air tv, and charge the fans a bargain price to get in.  If you have to  give the players $60 million, that’s why the tickets are $750.
