I was wondering if anyone has any experience wearing Lacoste polos on the course?

I'm a big Lacoste fan, but until seeing a lot of the European Tour players wear them and along with Martin Kaymer, I had never thought of wearing them on course. So, any thoughts?

Thanks,

Chris

The best polos you can wear on the course imho. They are smart and they are comfortable. Do it!

Modern synthetic fabrics which wick sweat are much more suitable for golf.

I will never buy a cotton shirt again.

I have plenty of Nike Dri-Fits, they are great I do agree, but I'm looking for something cleaner looking. Not all the Lacoste polo's are cotton, they have a full golf line as well.

I don't care if my shirts are Galvin Green, Lacoste or Tesco's Stone Bay Golf range. If they fit nicely, look good, don't restrict my swing and are comfortable I'll wear them.

They lacoste too much for my budget. I wait for cheap Nike Dri-Fits to go on sale then buy them.

Can't justify $80 for a polo shirt for work let alone on the course.

But if they are in your budget I say go for it.

As far as golf shirts go I try and wait for Macy's to have a sale on their IZOD dri-fits.  Their cotton/poly blends do not hold up but their dry fit material ones do.

Sometimes you can score them for around $17-20 and they retail for $50.  Just returned from the mall and they were on sale for $25 today.

Another good cheap alternative for golf shirts are Champion brand that can be found at Target.  They normally run $17-19.99 depending on style and are more conservative in color (great for office wear too).  They have both striped and solid colors.

We bowl once a week during our lunch break from work and I make sure to wear a dry fit shirt to reduce sweating and these fit the bill.  Numerous washings without any fading or wear and tear.

I just wish they would add more colors each season.  Pretty much the same colors a red, white, light blue, navy and black.

I go to TJ Maxx every now and then and load up on Nautica polos. They look great and can be had pretty cheap if you shop around and use coupons.

Just so people don't think I'm so rich, snobby person who is looking at buying $95 CND polo's. My girlfriend has a cousin who lives in France and she has some connections. So,after shipping I could get a few at about $45 CND each. As said, I normally pick up a lot of my golf clothing when I go to the US at Macy's or Marshals.

Thank's everyone for their help thus far, really is appreciated.

Lacoste really isn't that good quality of a shirt. Local high end men's store quit carrying them because of so many complaints.

They carry Southern Tide now and i find them to be much better shirts.

Picked up two Walter Hagen hi-dry shirts for $50 on a two-for-one sale - priced out at $25 each.

Plan to use these for fancy events, and continue to wear cotton golf shirts otherwise.

For most rounds of golf, I wear golf shirts and slacks that have been in my wardrobe for several months. I rarely wear new stuff for golf.

Focus, connect and follow through!

  • 2 weeks later...

I like the look of their shirts.  Ive got a couple my gf bought me.  I would never wear them golfing though because they are cotton.  I usually pick a new shirt every two weeks when I get paid.  I like Nike, Puma, Adidas and Under Armour the most.  I usually buy a shirt that will go with a certain pair of shorts I have or vice versa.

    • Okay, I had these two assumptions wrong. That would be my premise for hitting driver. I promise I'm not high.. lol. Fair enough.

    • Wider than most fairways, yes (thus why I don't hit 100% of my fairways), but most holes I play have 65+ yds between hazards (or areas where I can't easily advance my ball to nGIR) so the majority of the time when I hit driver I am able to find it and have a reasonable look at the green.  That would not necessarily be the case on this hole, especially because a mishit driver brings those left trees into play.   PGA Tour players average 2.82 strokes to hole out from 40yds in the bunker and 3.15 strokes to hole out from 60yds in the bunker.  2.82 strokes to hole out from the fairway is like 110yds and 3.15 strokes to hole out from the fairway is like 190yds.  Now granted I would only have that 50yd bunker shot 1/3 of the time, but it's still a VERY difficult shot especially for amateurs.   Haha trust me I love chasing birdies, but I'm averaging 2.78 birdies per round this year so that's not my issue, I need to make less bogies (5.2 per round) and doubles (0.42 per round)
    • Vishal, what are you doing here? PGA Tour players are about 65 yards wide, often 70. Huh? A 50-yard bunker shot is one of the toughest shots in golf. Are you okay? 🤣
    • Day 608, July 3, 2024 Played 18 holes with a student. White tees. Wasn't really working on my stuff, but hit some really good shots. Drove 16 to the pin-high rough 3" from the fringe. Hit some tremendous long irons.
