I usually wear jeans and a t-shirt to the golf course. So?

Why is it when I say that its wrong to wear a t-shirt to golf I get a barrage of abuse and yet nearly everyone on this thread says its ok?

Does this "Humping the Goat" action come from wearing jeans or more prevalent with people who golf in jeans?  I am not sure of the connection here.  I guess if you were wearing khakis it would be "Getting Jiggy with the SuperModel" dilemma.

I don't play in jeans at all but to say I couldn't because they're to restrictive is laughable. What are you guys wearing nut huggers?

I usually wear my rain pants if it's too cold to wear shorts, I don't like playing in docker/khaki style office pants.  I also don't like playing in jeans for whatever reason.  I used to play in jeans and a t-shirt, but it just doesn't feel right anymore.  I have no problem practicing in a pair of basketball shorts or warm up pants and a t-shirt though.

Now now, whatever side of the jeans debate we're on, let's try not to be so arrogant as to tell other people what they do or don't find comfortable.

I wear ordinary, regular cut Levi's jeans that fit comfortably around the waist, and did so almost exclusively from when I was a kid until now (early 30s).  But when I wear them golfing, I'm aware that they're there in a way I'm not with lighter-weight pants, and to me that feels restrictive.  If your experience is different, great, but different people have different body shapes, play in different weather, and are accustomed to the feel of different clothes.

You should wear whatever you want as long as it meets the requirements/regulations of the course.  At the course where I'm a member, jeans are not frowned upon, but they aren't really normal.  Most people just wear khaki shorts in the summer and khaki pants or rain/wind pants in the winter.  If somebody shows up in jeans, nobody cares.

At the course where my Dad's a member, it's right the opposite.  Almost everyone wears jeans, sweatshirts, etc in the winter.  In the summer it's usually just normal khaki shorts.  There are plenty of golfers there with 1-3 handicaps wearing jeans.  You're more likely to be "poked fun at" if you showed up with a $100 pair of slacks and a $80 shirt.

In the end... who cares?  Wear whatever you're comfortable in as long as the course management doesn't care.

I find jeans to be extremely uncomfortable with a little bit of sweating. Since I generally play golf in warmer conditions, sweating is inevitable. Once the jeans start sticking to me, yes I find them restrictive. Same goes for t-shirts. I find golf shirts breathe much better.

I own one pair of golf shorts and one pair of golf pants, also 3 golf shirts. They are no more than athletic apparel that breathes easy and gives me a good range of motion.

I'll share my opinion on this once again.

I don't wear jeans (heck, I rarely wear shorts when golfing, because I've found that good lightweight pants keep my legs in the shade and thus more cool than shorts, plus provide some sun protection) when I play golf. They're heavy, don't move well, absorb a ton of water, and are simply not conducive to athletic activity.

I don't really care what other people do if it's within the rules (which are determined by the course). And, frankly, if I see someone wearing jeans I still really don't care.

But I also don't wear t-shirts, partly because I think I look better in a polo and partly because, why not? Different activities have different attire. I wear polo shirts when golfing (and 90% of the rest of the time, too), but when I worked in an office I wore a tie and an Oxford shirt, and dress shoes. When I go to a wedding or a funeral or court (custody battles against my wife's dillweed of an ex-husband, sorry, nothing too salacious! :D) I dress differently there as well.

I might not pass much judgment (I'd be lying if I said the thought of what someone is wearing never occurs to me), but others will. If you don't care, wear what you want. If you do care, conform a little more.

P.S. My wife hates my TRUE shoes, but I wear 'em anyway. :-)

I like jogging or sports wear. Adidas, Nike, etc. Workout clothes.

Shoes......i forgot the name of the more cheaper clothes/shoes line....'Tommy..something'.

I like his Golf 'tennis' shoes. Wearing a light jacket bothers me. Feel restricted.

I wouldn't wear jeans playing golf cause they feel heavy to me. I love lightweight clothing when I play golf. it's that simple for me.

I'm not big on dress codes.   However, jeans on a golf course just seem a little tacky to me.   I see people wear jeans on the course all the time, but 9/10 they just look disheveled, play bad, and have a mullet.

With that said, I can't really talk.  I'm 39 years old and still wear my hats backward or sideways (and on the golf course), so I suppose to some, I look tacky as well lol.

Everyone has their own sense of style.  If it works for you, by all means do it.

I have to draw the line at bib overalls with no shirt.  Bib overalls with a thermal underwear long sleeve top in camo, red, or white might work if it is matched up nicely with the appropriate Bass Pro Shop hat.
