What a Sunday. Honestly, Rory was key in making it entertaining. He was either gonna bring it and runaway like Tiger yrs ago or he was gonna implode and let everyone go at it. Too bad it was the latter ... I'm wondering if the analysts will try to rank Rory's collapse with ones from the past. Oh yeah ... Tiger had a small role in jacking up the excitement level too.

What can we say, this has been one of the most thrilling sundays I've ever seen. I'm a bit disappointed with the finish, wanting Tiger to win it, or at least see a playoff, but you got to give it to Charl for making birdie on the last four holes at Augusta.

Yet again wee see the pressure of having a 54 hole lead in a major championship, it was painful to watch Rory today.

Yeah, if anything I think this shows us that nobody ever really looks like they're going to implode or choke under the pressure until they actually do. Dustin Johnson never showed signs of it last year for the first three rounds at the US Open, and Rory didn't show any signs of it the first three rounds this year. The craziest thing about these implosions, though, is that they are nearly immediate. DJ gave it up right away, and you saw Rory's lead shrink immediately after the first hole was done, and it was completely gone by the 3rd hole. The implosion was still a ways off, but the signs of it slipping away were evident right off the bat. Brandon

Congratulations to Schwartzel. He really played a good round. It's too bad Rory couldn't hang on.

incredible day of golf! its amazing how sunday at the masters always delivers! bit gutted as i really wanted jason day to pull through and win it (my 3rd favourite golfer behind AK & Watney) but for Scwartzel to finish birdie-birdie-birdie-birdie proves how much he deserved it!

oh and Rory completely bottled it, he'll learn from it though, he is a good enough player to do so, Watney and DJ both did the same thing last year in the last round of a major and have hit back with wins after them (Watney the WGC last month & DJ with the BMW towards the back end of last year). Rory will benefit from having the experience of being in the final group of a major on Sunday and will definitely win a major and soon!

Have to say one of the best Sundays ever. Saddest part is we have to wait a whole year to do it again.

A bit anticlimactic at the ending as the possibilities added up into possible dream scenarios. Great tournament and came close to being epic of all time.

Thats a few times now Rory has choked with a lead in a tournament. Time to switch to S&T; Rory! :-P

It's interesting because most players do have a centred pivot these days but Rory stil has quite a lateral movement in the backswing for a renown ball striker

For some reason this felt different than what Rory did at the Open ... I didn't see that round but I remember hearing that the wind was crazy that day.  But you gotta admit that he did choke today. Even if you subtract the triple bogey, he was looking a little tight on the front 9 at times.  As the old-heads in my golf league say, "that pressure will bust a pipe!"

to be fair he wasnt too bad, the 7 on 10 did do him over, after that he had 2 more bogeys and a double so was 7 over on the back so was playing solidly (as well as nervously) until the 10th!

I'd be happy with  43 on the back nine at Augusta National, but I suck. He sucked on the back nine today. Sucked real bad. The end.

No doubt about that. I don't follow the quotes of golfers except during the weeks of majors, so I don't know about the accuracy of all the alleged Rory quotes, but if true, he was a VERY confident young'n and near the line of cocky (you gotta be to be that good at such a young age...) and this experience will definitely humble him a little.  I thought his post-rounds comments were excellent and better than I would of mustered if I were in his shoes and I'm in my mid 30's.

My rubric on the quality of major championships is this: if I'm browsing through the television channels late on a Wednesday night, and the highlight video of that tournament is playing on Golf Channel or somewhere, would I be compelled to watch it? Well, I would definitely watch the 2011 Masters recap.

    • If you own a Stack radar (for now, it's limited to Stack radar only), and want to work on your wedge game… it turns out that wedge distances are 99% correlated to ball speed. So, with a small radar, you can practice your wedge game easily in a gamified way.
    • Day 11: 2/16/2025 Rince and Repeat: Just like yesterday I spent several 5-10 minute sessions working on what I learned on Friday.
    • Quick update. So, I got the PXG Secret Weapon and I have to say I like it... mostly. (see below) I spent some time with it on the range and I even gathered some data in doors. I'm not going to post data yet, as my swing is still a bit of a work in progress and I'd like to gather some more data after I settle down a little bit more. But here's my review.  First as a driver replacement. ... IMO it is not a replacement, it's clearly more of a supplement... for me anyway. Not long enough to really replace the driver. For me it's about 20 yards short of my driver. It is longer than my 30-wood off the tee. (15 yards-ish) I will say it is easier to hit off the tee than my 3-wood. I get some of my best shots teeing it low, but I also get some of my worst. If I tee it about a full inch off the ground I get very consistent shots. Super repeatable. Amazingly repeatable even with my messy swing. Off the tee, I find it draw biased just a bit. You can tinker with the set up if that isn't your personal cup of tea.  As a 3-wood replacement. For me it's about perfect. It's longer than my 3-wood off the deck (my data showed 10 yards longer) and it has a gentle fade to it, which I love. You do need a clean lie, but I never hit my 3-wood off anything but a clean lie anyway. I found it interesting that I hit a gentle fade off the deck and a slight draw off a tee. I'm sure that's not uncommon. Again, you can tinker with the set up to optimize that if you wanted to... I don't want to.  It's clearly a lot longer than my 3-wood off the tee. Easier to hit off the tee than my 3 wood, and off the deck it's also longer. So, it's a no-brainer 3-wood replacement for me. I will say that over the years I've learned to use my 3-wood for this low-flying-100-yard-punch-out-from-under-a-tree shot.  I'll have to see if the Secret Weapon can handle that duty. But it's going in the bag to replace the 3-wood.  I also turned my 5-wood down from 19 degrees to 17 degrees. ... Incidentally my 3-wood had been 16 degrees. I used to always hit my 5 wood and my hybrid about the same distance. This adjustment helps my gapping a bit at the top of the bag. I can clearly hit my 5-wood farther than my hybrid now.  Overall on the PXG Secret Weapon. The good: It's clearly longer and easier to hit off the tee than my 3-wood. It's a bit longer off the deck than my 3-wood.  It's super forgiving... surprisingly so.  It's uber adjustable. ... Although I do suggest getting fit for it. That will save you having to (or wanting to) buy a weight kit just to try out the infinite number of set ups. The headcover is super cool.  The maybe not so good: Shots out of the middle sound great. Shots off the heal sound great. Shots off the toe sound ... what's the work... clangy? It's very forgiving off the toe and the heal. The flight and the distance are incredibly consistent. But the sound off the toe isn't great.  For me I tend to draw it off the tee and fade it off the deck. You can set it up to be biased either way, but in my hands I think if I set up a draw off the deck, that might induce a duck hook off the tee. ... In fairness that could also be where my swing is at right now.  It's pretty spendy. ... If I really stop and think about it, I paid $450 for a new 3-wood. Granted it's a better performing 3-wood. But for me it's really a 3-wood replacement.
