His Nike Method putter…

I think Tiger putts well when his overall game is good.

The reasons for his change could be different things, but I'm sure he would've won the same amount of tournaments from now on with his Scotty. After some time getting used to the feeling and dynamics, his good stroke will hole putts, regardless of putter.

Thoughts?  Ridiculous.  He putts well when he's playing well.  If he's putting/playing well he'd putt about the same with any putter you handed him on the practice green before teeing off.  The converse is also true.

HAHAHAHAHA. . .

Oh, you mean right now? I thought you meant historically.  He putts best when he's fired up. I think seeing the kids rip up the back nine ahead of him has him inspired. I predict (therefore it will never come to pass) that he's going low this weekend.

Impossible to make that call.

Tiger has won A LOT with his Scotty.

So far none with the Method, so how can anyone make that call yet?

Well since I stated as "I THINK"… as in Its just an opinion, and mine more specifically. I did not offer it as fact. I just wanted to see what people's thoughts were. I could have just said I think Tiger is putting better, but I wanted to throw the "Method" in there for conversations sake...

… Relax people… Sheesh!

Come on, really??? I did not mean it historically. How could I? He's only put it in play this year, with the exception of last years British Open (that I recall). Just based on this year alone, I think he is putting better with the Method.

FWIW, he has used two different versions of the Method. In fact, the two versions of the Method (the 003 he is using this week and the 001 he used at last year's British) are probably more different than the 001 and the Scotty.

I guess I didn't catch that he used a 001 at all. I thought it was always the 003. I myself use the 005, which is a face balanced model. I believe his 003 & 001 were both toe balanced??? I love how it rolls! And Im assuming Tiger likes it too. It does what they say it does, no back spin, starts out rolling over the top immediately, etc… The hardest thing I would think would be going from a blade to a mallet style putter. It was an awkward transition for me, in fact Im still getting used to it and sometimes line it up wrong. I wish Nike would do an interview or something with him. I would love to hear what his thoughts are on the putter.

This is kinda off-topic, but figured I'd share it. I think this had been discussed before, but I cant remember. Anyway, Ricky Barnes is using a Method now too

Ricky Barnes is great, but someone needs to tell him that they do hold other tournaments during the year, not just the majors.

Like was said already… NOT historically… But after today Im not sure its even a valid argument at the moment. He didn't putt particularly well today, but I dont think it would have changed with the Scotty. Just looked like he had lost his touch and feel.

    • Day 132: 5/7/24 Full Speed Spectrum Training session 8/24. 7th training program overall.    Another slow session but 4 mph faster than my last session, which was my slowest ever. Going to the doctor on Friday to check on pulled neck muscle.
    • Day 26: Did full swing practice after work. First 15 balls were working on top of the backswing feel, and then tried to incorporate transition feel into the next 15 balls. A's, although this will be my last season of being a fan as they leave for Las Vegas (by way of Sacramento for a few seasons). Hard to see myself rooting for the Giants, but if that's the only MLB in the Bay Area, I guess I might get on board.
    • My two cents? Don't. As a beginner that's interested in learning about the golf swing, you'll find yourself consuming a lot of information, most of which isn't even relevant to your own swing. You need to learn you can't think your way to a good golf swing. Focus on the one thing that you're working on and doing that on every swing, come what may. And remember, mishits happen.
    • Day 6 (7 May 24) - More work in the backyard focused on tempo in addition to setup.  Worked with 6 and 7 irons hitting hard foam balls - used the old MacGregor irons to mix it up a little.
    • No! lol. But they have to be in the right sequence to play mid-handicap golf or little better. Mostly. And even in that there is range/margin for error in the motions and positions that most normal humans can handle. It helps if you have a decent idea of how a golf club moves around the body like you would any other equipment sports (baseball and hockey might be the closest) After all, fairways are 40 yards wide. Don't overthink it. Be diligent in getting basics right. I will concede that it is harder than it sounds but it certainly is not exact angle/exact position/exact degree of bend/exact speed/exact facial expression, etc, every.... single.... time or the result is horrible death.
