Irons flying ridiculously far...

so i made a small change to my swing recently. well, not so much my swing but my ball position. i noticed that all the good ball strikers i play with stand a pretty fair distance away from the ball. i was even told last year that i need to bend more at the waist. so i tried it, and WOW! i hit my irons pretty far to begin with, but now my 3 iron is going about 250 instead of the 235 i was hitting it, with a lot better ball flight. the balls are just jumping off the face! i'm no longer pulling the ball either like i tended to do. anyways, hope this tip helps somebody.

Maybe you just "only" found a swingplane that is right on track with the lie of your clubs ...... 250 instead of 235 ..... uhh that is only about 6% extra .....

Still I wouldn't mind hitting 235 with a 3i

Pretty sure if my playing partner cranked out a 3i as far as my drive I'd just up and call it a day.. 250 is damn good man damn.

I once hit a 1 iron 250 yds.  3 iron?  Not yet.

I suspect that "Gerald" is correct, your swing plane is more in line with your club lie. I was hitting a lot on the toe last year and lost enourmous distance. Turns out I was too upright. I flattened my plane out and now the toe isn't digging in anymore and I got my distance back.

Now is that with roll, your in texas so you guys get like 50 yards of roll right?

not to mention ...... a thinned ball will bump along the fairway at least 300 yds in summer ......
