I've got an idea. I like shiny new things, they give me some motivation.

I want to improve my Golf game, and I really really want a pretty shiny new driver. I don't have the money to buy one yet, but if I win the local open at my course, I can buy me a new driver!

Any suggestions so I can put a picture of this shiny new driver on my computer background so I see it every single day? I read reviews but they make me confident that pretty much all drivers are good but I want one that is better than the rest.

I've never been fit for a driver, how is it different from getting fit for my irons? My swing speed is almost 110 with my current driver.

Let me tell you something, I really really like the look of white top on the Taylormade R11.

Both the R11 and Titleist 910 D2/D3 are great drivers to consider.  In addition, both will allow you to customize loft/lie/face angle as well as experiment with shafts.  The Superfast is also worth checking out, and last years TP can now be had on the cheap.  I really liked the 1.0 Superfast when I tried it several times.

Don't discount Cobra, Adams or Cleveland though... there are a ton of good drivers out there.

Get out there and win!

This may be the most honest explanation from anyone ever on the forum about why they need a new driver - it's a refreshing perspective!

Adams Speedline F11

Two very strong shaft choices standard– the high-launch Aldila VooDoo shaft or the mid-launch Matrix XCon

46 inch shaft ( not for everyone, but I prefer a longer shaft after trying shorter ones )

When I hit it recently, I was amazed, it feels like you opened a new black hole in the universe when you hit it.

I could not afford it, so went with the F10 instead which I am very happy with.

Best thing about it now? It only costs $250 US - much better than paying $400+ for other top brand drivers IMO

OP question rephrased:

"What sort of driver do you have?"

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Huh? Only one response that was suggested matched the posters driver?

I'm sort of confused by these last two posts.

Are you wondering what driver I use? I currently have a 9 degree ping G5 with a regular flex shaft. It was never fit for me and was just given to me.

Shorty was commenting on how these threads tend to degenerate into a "you should buy the driver I'm playing" type of conversation.

okay, your driver swing 100 mph + over.  I heard NEW Aldila  BETA R.I.P. graphite shaft (skull with green eye) is tip soft identity same original Aldila Alpha (skull with red eye) is tip stiffness .  Try use X-flex with tip soft help great distance and longer.   your choose on color :  Black or White.

I plan this new my drive ADAMS 8.5 loft tour custom modified with the BETA R.I.P shaft.  however  the shaft is cost about $199.  A new head drive is $146  total  $345

If you want something new and exciting I'd go with the Titleist, I really like their fairway woods.  Would have picked up the driver too, but there wasn't enough difference over my current driver to warrant the $400.

haha I love the OP, it made me laugh with its refreshing honesty.  I've been playing the Razr Hawk (callaway obv) and I love love love it.  9.5* loft and neutral draw.  I was fitted for it at dicks after hitting a bunch of new ones.  When I was shopping, I hit the new R11, Razr Hawk, the new S2 from Cobra and Clevelands new drivers.  The R11 and the Razr were the best feeling to me, however they were all quality.  For me personally the Razr just felt "right" in my hands and I loved it.  Anyway, lots of new great drivers out there!  Good luck in your local open

    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
    • Day 580 - 2026-05-04 Played eight holes. Sometimes golf kicks you in the nuts. 😉
