Guys/Girls,

If you're playin in a club championship this year, let us know where you're playing, what flight you're in, how many rounds and how you did and when it was. Share you favorite holes/shots, birdies and sand saves you may have had, and if you had anyone on your bag! (maybe Steve Williams switched again?)

First round, turned up late, but had one of my best rounds ever (extremely hard pins), shot 76. 2nd best gross and 4 shots off our only + handicapper. Looked like i was in with a shout, this kid had won it easyly the last 4 years in a row.

started the 2nd round well, then dropped several stupid shots (missed a 2 inch putt) and ended up 4th place.

I play as a member of Picatinny Arsenal Golf Club (military base), and our CC is coming up this coming weekend (Fri-Sun). Figured I'd throw this thread out there to hear what other's have done, how they've fared and the good, bad and ugly shots they may have taken. Last year I placed 2nd after having a terrible first day shooting an 84, only to shoot 77 and 76 the next two days to come in short of the leader who went out 78 78 80. I'm hoping for better results this week since my game is a lot better than it was last year...

Club Championship is the 26-28 August.  3 rounds.  Don't yet know what flight I'll be in - that isn't known until the committee sets up the tournament one week before.  It depends on current handicap index on the day they set it up, and mine is trending downward right now.  Probably 3rd or 4th flight as it now stands.

We had our senior club championship last weekend, but I was forced to skip it because I had my right knee scoped just a week and a half earlier.  Should be back full speed by the big one.

Our championship started yesterday, my first match is scheduled for this Sunday at 2pm.  I'm in the First flight, 16 player brackets, 1 match a week.  I missed qualifying for the championship flight, I don't know by exactly how much, but it was close (I think the triple on the last hole with the Unplayable lie cost me).

Our Club Championship is being played October 8th and 9th on two different courses (we're a traveling club).  Last year, we played both rounds on a single course... and it absolutely ate me up.  I think I finished 22nd out of around 24 players.

This year, it's GOT to get better... right?

I will play again this year.  I always elect to play in the championship flight.  Why play otherwise?  I don't need to win a plaque or gift certificate. It's about the glory. It's true I don't stand much of a chance of winning but what if I get hot and the favored ones are having an off weekend?  It's happened before.  I saw a guy who was a 10 handicap win our club championship back in Virginia. Played steady golf, had a two day total of 155 and won it.  I like playing in the CC because no handicaps are involved.  Sandbagging is out the window.  You gotta man up and play golf.  I've finished third three times so although I have no visions of granduer, I'm gonna give it a go.  End of August.   Should be fun!!

Was playing the best golf of my life last year leading into the Club Championship. I was very excited to take my game and test it. I tested it all right. I finished DFL. That's Dead F*#**^n Last in my flight.

This year's Championship is coming up and I'm not sure what I'm going to do.

i am a member of two clubs.

the easier club/course, is in august though.  2 weekend days, and if you make the top 4 of your flight, you play the following weekend, both days as well.   i'm lucky enough my wife lets me play at all, but i'd never be able to kill the whole weekend on her and my kid.

now my other club (which has 2 courses), they have a 3-day tourney that includes a friday afternoon.   this is in november, so there's a better chance i can kill the weekend.  but also, its a shotgun start, so i can be more precise on the time i'll be gone/playing.   so i'll likely play this..

too bad though, i think with my first club i could play stronger as i'm real familiar w/ the course and the people.

Had my first round yesterday, lost 1up.  I could not putt on the front: I three putted 4 times and was 4 down after 9.  I rallied on the back and we were all square by 16.  Went AS to the last hole and I double-cross pull hooked my tee shot into the left rough.  Weak second shot got me back to the fairway 96 yards out.  I hit what looked like a perfect wedge, but it hit and spun back instead of bouncing forward like it usually does, and I two putted for bogey.

Meanwhile, my competitor hits a wicked slice into the trees on the right but bounces left just enough that he has a shot to the green.  His second shot hits the face of the greenside bunker, but instead of plugging or falling back, it actually bounced forward on to the fringe.  I've never seen anything like it.  He two putted from there to close me out.

Since I lost in the first round I am now moved to another flight, so I'm not out of it yet, but one more loss and it's over.

Shot 74 on Saturday which was 3 back from the leader. Played in the final group Sunday and mustered my way back to -1 by the 15th hole which was tied for the lead. I proceeded to go bogey, triple, double…….talk about a choke job!  We had quite a few people watching the last 3 holes and it was pretty intense. I'm still a little sick to my stomach about it lol.

My Club Championship is in two weeks. I have won the club championship at my course twice including last year so I am the defending champion. We will have some good players in it, I will have to shoot at least 5 or 6 under par for two days to win. When I won 3 years ago I shot 68-68 (-8) to win by one.

I lost my second match 1up, so I'm already out of this years tourney.  I finished the front 9 2up, then lost 4 holes in a row.  I fought back to AS through 16 but my competitor made a great birdie on 17 to go 1up.  I lipped out a 6 foot downhill slider on 18 that would have taken us back to AS.

Are all club championships in the same format? I see lots of guys talking about Matchplay? This is my first CC so I'm not sure how ours is formatted. All I know is I have a 426 T time today.
