Hello,

I now can officially hit every club in my back straight most of the time ( my driver is still kinda shakey but okay, 3 and 5 woods are my main weapons, 2-9 Irons, PW and SW and off course putter but you don't hit that.) When I go to a par 3 per hole (27 par total)  course this Saturday, I want to make a lot of pars and even birdies, But I was never all that good at making GIRS, but I have made them every now and then. So whats a secret to being able to hit more greens in regulations?

Thanks so much and may god bless you all! ^_^

I am so confused. If you are a 39 handicap and you hit it straight all the time, are you sure you are not hitting it the wrong way? And if you truly are a 39, then birdies and pars are the least of your concerns... I'm totally lost as to what you are even asking.

Please don't think I'm trying to be an ass, I just really need you to be more clear, that's all.

the secret is, when no one is looking pick your ball up and throw it at the hole

39 is from when I went golfing a few weeks ago. Afterwards, I learned how to hit the remaining clubs and how to putt better (I shaved 6 strokes off already in 2 days off strenuous putting practice.) So I very well might be 20 handicap as of right now, I just haven't updated yet haha.

Where are you missing?  Short, long, or left or right?  You either need to aim better at the target, if you're hitting straight and get a better handle on the distances you hit each club.

course management more likely, if you can hit consistent and relatively straight then that is probably your issue

try not going for the pin but for centre of green, that helps me tremendously as i work at getting better, i hit 15 GIR's the other day which is awesome, means squat when i take 41 putts per round and still shoot over 100, but its a part of my game i have improved.

Gir comes with 2 things. Consistancy with your higher irons and hitting fairways. Strait is not always consistant either. Distances and trajectories are also going to effect your GIR.

Works for me.  I was a 18 handicap before I figured out how to use the foot wedge and the old throw the ball out of the bunker shot.

Seriously though the secret to GIRs is Iron play.  Learn how to hit your irons especially the scoring clubs and your game can only get better.

I would say hitting more GIR is do to improving iron play -- if you are a low handicapper.

If you are new and a 20-40 handicap, I'm guessing you need to find a club that you can hit straight off the tee regardless of how far you hit it. It that club is your 5-iron, then hit 5-irons. Even Tiger couldn't get on the green from the woods yesterday. If your tee shots put you in trouble, you will not hit that green in regulation. Once you find yourself in play after your tee shot because you hit your go-to club, play smart and hit something that keeps you out of trouble. Maybe you hit that 5-iron again. If that means you are short of most holes in regulation, that's OK. Learn to get up and down for pars and be happy when you have a double-boggy-free round. Boggy or par is excellent for most of us.
