So today I'm going out and trying to play the tips just for giggles to see what happens. Will play about 6800 instead of 6300. Will raise course rating to 72.5/126 from 70.2/121... It's unlimited golf so if it goes poorly after the first 9 I'll probably drop back to the normal tees.

Well, playing from the tips went well by my standards. Outside of 3 holes where I had some troubles I did pretty well. 95 *93 with esc* from the tips. I'm now trending at 19.6... That's almost a full 3 drop since last revision.

Nice. I know you play north of Dayton but how far north?

I should be having my brother with me also, as long as he doesn't take off on me.

Count me out. Unfortunately that time-frame doesn't fit the weekend plans.

Hopefully I'll be back down soon.

Hey Shane, I was thinking of trying to get down there to play Homestead either Wednesday or Friday after work just to re-familiarize myself with the course. Couple of questions, I wouldn't be getting there until a bit after 5 pm, would the course be open or do you know if there are leagues out at that time and how do you think the course will hold up to the rain today and tomorrow?

Homestead does not drain really fast. There were still quite a few soggy spots when we played it yesterday. I think it should be fine after a day or so assuming no more gully washers happen. As far as leagues, I know they have them, but I don't know what the schedule is.

I kind of wish that courses would put league schedules on their websites so that people who want to come golf know when the course is busy. I don't know that I've ever seen a course website do it yet though.

Most courses don't have web designers, so site changes just don't happen and league schedules are always changing. I would give them a call. I'm bach'ing it from Thurs - Sunday, so if you're coming down Thursday evening, let me know.

Thursday is my league night, so unless it gets cancelled it'd probably be Friday. Either way, I'll let you know if I get a chance to head that way. As far as courses not having a web designer, there are easy ways to integrate google calendar into websites, but I can see how most courses wouldn't really want to bother with that. I'm just bad about calling ahead, I've always been the type to check for information online.

Dang. Out for blood are we? Is there some big prize money associated with the Spackler Invitational that I wasn't aware of?

Weather guessers have said that we'll be dry Wednesday thru Friday. Of course the same goofs said it was supposed to rain yesterday afternoon.

That sounds like a pretty good crew.

Hope the weather cooperates.

    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
