Waiting should give you plenty of time to actually PM me with a name, email address, or snail mail address so that I can pay when/if the time to do so arrives.

I don't particularly like that you have missed my point and replied like above.  You got it totally wrong.  The bet between us is not what I posted on this tread.  As this tread's title, Tiger outside the Top 50, I pointed out that people still rout for him and believe that Tiger can come back and gave some kick to you and others by bringing back last year's bet.  As you insisted, you will be getting a PM from me when last PGA Tours sanctioned tournaments ends.  And if you think Tiger can claim a win next year, I'm always up for your bet.

He's hardly destroyed himself. So what if he's slept with prostitutes while married? That's his problem. I only care about his golf. I think his injury is the main problem he's not winning (or closer to winning) and the moment he gets fit and starts playing a lot of competitive golf he'll come good again.

What bad luck. I must always switch on when he's acting like a penis. Funny how the networks never show other players throwing their toys out of their prams.

Pretty much because every shot of Tiger is shown regardless of how well he is playing. If they showed all the players hitting poor shots you would see something different. Heck, in the last few years we've seen Sergio attack a bunker, John Daly walk off the course, Bubba Watson call Elkington a "****er" and Bjorn saying "Go **** yourself Thomas" live on air. It's hardly just Tiger. I'm not defending him but it's ridiculous to think he's the only one out there.

I probably don't watch enough golf then, as I can honestly say I haven't seen any other play act the way Tiger does. If that's the case, then they all need fining. Tiger should know better as he knows every swing is on camera. It's like he doesn't care anymore.

I dunno Pharaon, I still think Tiger's problem is mainly mental...

Why does swearing on a golf course require fining?

I don't mind a bit of club throwing and swearing on the golf course. Don't most people get angry with themselves for hitting bad shots? These are are getting paid to play golf. I think it adds some emotion to the game

I guess I'm just old fashioned or maybe it was just the way my dad taught me the game, but golf to me has always been a gentleman's game. I think people should have some class on the golf course. It's not the NBA. I find it completely unexcusable for someone to throw a club on the golf course.

You're right. I just find it quite humorous to see the pros get frustrated. See: Pat Perez

Sign of the times I'm afraid. Over-generalizing here, but the more they get paid, the more of a jerk they seem to act.

Re: Tiger, there's not much point reacting/opinionating. It's been going on for years, he doesn;t look any less or more of a twat when he's sulking/spitting/swearing/throwing clubs around, doesn't appear to give a sh!t either.

But woe betide if you criticise him in any way, before one of the gang attacks you about you having the audacity to comment negatively about the man or his bad habits on the golf-course. Generally along the lines of: '"He's the World Number One (or 52nd) so he's entitled to sling clubs into crowds of people*, spit, swear..."

* Check your facts RichF, he's never purposely thrown clubs into crowds - so stop HATING

We're just average hackers posting on an Internet Forum and therefore not fit to even pick up his thrown driver, much less criticise him for doing it, so we all need to STFU and grant 'The G.O.A.T' the immunity he deserves from common sense and grown-up behaviour by the very nature of his god-given talents.

And anyway, he can do whatever he likes: he's got 14 Majors - how many have you got?

Didn't Bobby Jones once throw a club into the crowd that hit a woman in the leg? I think I remember reading that in some book...... He had a fairly nasty temper on him also from what I have read.

He may have skewered someone through the sternum with a sawn-off 1-iron for all I know.

The fact that it's not been filmed or photographed means we'll never know for sure - only on what someone's written based on witnesses from almost 100 years ago.

My guess is that not many people were watching...and I'm sure no kiddie said at the time: "Gee, Dad - you see Bobby Jones just called that guy a c*nt and took out another woman with a mashie"

You can have any opinion you want, but you've made it clear here numerous times you hate Tiger.  I'm not a fan of Tiger the person but I watch enough golf to know he's not the only pro out there cussing and throwing clubs but I never see you call anyone else out but Tiger for doing it.  If you just want to come here and bash Tiger we can ignore your posts and just let you vent if you prefer.

Jones realized that his anger had an adverse effect on his game, and changed.

Tiger, despite telling us that he would get back to his Buddhist roots (whatever that means) and would respect the game of golf, continues his angry, petulant behavior.

This is exactly how I feel. It makes me sad that I have to explain why swearing, club throwing etc. has no place on the golf course. It's difficult to teach this to the new people joining the game.

Good post. Yeah, I remember him saying that. Went out the window the moment he hit his first block in his comeback tournament. Once a jerk, always a jerk.

Or, you can read constructive criticism, ponder over it, and then respond.

But you know what? I agree with you here.

I lot of people have suggested the PGA should act up and start fining/warning players for acting this way (they don't stand for swearing or tantrums or racquet abuse in tennis anymore)

Woods would be on the top of this list.

And I wouldn't expect this from any player in the Top 10, 20 nor from a player on Tiger's level who is ranked lower...Garcia, Watson, Levine, Hoffman, Daley, Sabbatini, O'Hair - names that spring to mind immediately when 'acting-the-jerk' on the golf-course.

And by the way, I can say it til I'm blue in the face - I don't hate Tiger at all...if I did, I wouldnt have shook the guy's hand or wished him luck, pre-driving range on Day #1 at St Andrew's in 2010...but as usual, a lot of posters miss the point of my posts - it's not actually him my tirades are aimed at...

    • Day 140 - 2025-02-17 Got to GE pretty early. Few lessons and then a GEARS visit with a guy. Pelvis work, go figure. Put down two mats later with a carpet stay thing, and hit some balls before heading home.

    • If you own a Stack radar (for now, it's limited to Stack radar only), and want to work on your wedge game… it turns out that wedge distances are 99% correlated to ball speed. So, with a small radar, you can practice your wedge game easily in a gamified way.
    • Day 11: 2/16/2025 Rince and Repeat: Just like yesterday I spent several 5-10 minute sessions working on what I learned on Friday.
    • Quick update. So, I got the PXG Secret Weapon and I have to say I like it... mostly. (see below) I spent some time with it on the range and I even gathered some data in doors. I'm not going to post data yet, as my swing is still a bit of a work in progress and I'd like to gather some more data after I settle down a little bit more. But here's my review.  First as a driver replacement. ... IMO it is not a replacement, it's clearly more of a supplement... for me anyway. Not long enough to really replace the driver. For me it's about 20 yards short of my driver. It is longer than my 30-wood off the tee. (15 yards-ish) I will say it is easier to hit off the tee than my 3-wood. I get some of my best shots teeing it low, but I also get some of my worst. If I tee it about a full inch off the ground I get very consistent shots. Super repeatable. Amazingly repeatable even with my messy swing. Off the tee, I find it draw biased just a bit. You can tinker with the set up if that isn't your personal cup of tea.  As a 3-wood replacement. For me it's about perfect. It's longer than my 3-wood off the deck (my data showed 10 yards longer) and it has a gentle fade to it, which I love. You do need a clean lie, but I never hit my 3-wood off anything but a clean lie anyway. I found it interesting that I hit a gentle fade off the deck and a slight draw off a tee. I'm sure that's not uncommon. Again, you can tinker with the set up to optimize that if you wanted to... I don't want to.  It's clearly a lot longer than my 3-wood off the tee. Easier to hit off the tee than my 3 wood, and off the deck it's also longer. So, it's a no-brainer 3-wood replacement for me. I will say that over the years I've learned to use my 3-wood for this low-flying-100-yard-punch-out-from-under-a-tree shot.  I'll have to see if the Secret Weapon can handle that duty. But it's going in the bag to replace the 3-wood.  I also turned my 5-wood down from 19 degrees to 17 degrees. ... Incidentally my 3-wood had been 16 degrees. I used to always hit my 5 wood and my hybrid about the same distance. This adjustment helps my gapping a bit at the top of the bag. I can clearly hit my 5-wood farther than my hybrid now.  Overall on the PXG Secret Weapon. The good: It's clearly longer and easier to hit off the tee than my 3-wood. It's a bit longer off the deck than my 3-wood.  It's super forgiving... surprisingly so.  It's uber adjustable. ... Although I do suggest getting fit for it. That will save you having to (or wanting to) buy a weight kit just to try out the infinite number of set ups. The headcover is super cool.  The maybe not so good: Shots out of the middle sound great. Shots off the heal sound great. Shots off the toe sound ... what's the work... clangy? It's very forgiving off the toe and the heal. The flight and the distance are incredibly consistent. But the sound off the toe isn't great.  For me I tend to draw it off the tee and fade it off the deck. You can set it up to be biased either way, but in my hands I think if I set up a draw off the deck, that might induce a duck hook off the tee. ... In fairness that could also be where my swing is at right now.  It's pretty spendy. ... If I really stop and think about it, I paid $450 for a new 3-wood. Granted it's a better performing 3-wood. But for me it's really a 3-wood replacement.
