Tilgham and Faldo on TGC?

Does anyone know what happened to Kelly Tilgham and Nick Faldo on the Golf Channel? They did a bunch in a row and then weren't on, so I figured they were just getting a week off when the tour moved to Florida, but they haven't been on since. I wasn't a big fan of Tilghman as an announcer, but like her on shows like Golf Central, but I quite enjoy Faldo. Did they get the boot?

I raised this same question in another thread a few weeks ago. No one seems to know for certain what happened, but given all the hype that the Golf Channel put forth about their new broadcast team, I have to believe one of two things:

Either Kelly and Nick didn't get along that well and one of them essentially refused to work with the other, or the Golf Channel did some "focus group" testing and didn't like the numbers they saw.

Either way, I believe the Golf Channel panicked and pulled the plug too early. For whatever criticisms the Thursday/Friday broadcast received, it wasn't that bad.

I think it makes them look silly and their failure to publicly address the situation makes them look worse. It's like whenever a TV or radio station fires someone. Everyone goes mute and pretends like the person never existed. (Don Imus being an obvious exception).

I agree on the knee-jerk reaction; I know their initial ratings were substantially down from the Thursday-Friday ESPN ratings of last year, but not nearly as many households get the Golf Channel. If it is the case, I'm surprised they didn't just replace Tilgham and keep Faldo; he's one of the best and he was not the problem with the ratings if there was one.

Maybe it had to do with their combined SALARIES and they had to cut corners.

My cable carrier is Charter and just prior to the Masters when the Golf Channel was broadcasting just about anything, a message was being scrolled across the top of the screen stating (from TGC) that Charter Cable would be severing TGC from their cable lineup as of April 4 and that subscribers should contact Charter and let them know you wanted it continued. This was nationally, not just a local area or state.

Needless to say, I and everyone I know contacted Charter by phone, email, and chat to state our displeasure along with the fact we were going to cancel ALL services with them in favor of Direct or Dish TV. In my case it also includes high speed internet and phones. My one little voice
(ok...big b!tching mouth) along with everyone else in the country moaning did something to save the coverage right at the deadline.

Another message started being scrolled at the top of the screen by TGC stating that Charter would be continuing to carry TGC after "coming to an agreement of principal".

I don't know what that means other than they were beating each other over the head for MONEY and PROFIT. Somebody had to cut corners and give in.

I can't say if that's what broke those two up, if they are in fact permanently broken up, but it may be something you're unaware of if you have something else other than Charter Cable.

I mentioned this in the "is Kelly Tilghman hot" thread. I think Faldo made a move on Kelly and tried to get in her pants. She freaked out probably or went for it and so now they can't work together haha.

Am I crazy, or did TGC have Faldo/Nantz last night for the final round/Monday finish of the Verizon?

I am curious as to the real reason they were split...

Faldo's accent is discernable, but I thought it was Kelly Tilghman's "heavy" voice before I realized it was Nantz

Well, duhhhhh......

Their presence today answers nothing. The question is where have they been and why?

Does it make any sense for TGC to hype the hell out of their very own broadcast team as part of their brand spanking new 2007 PGA package, hire Faldo for tons of money, and then have that very same broadcast team "drop by" every five or six weeks?

I thought the point of "every PGA event starts here" was to have a consistent look to the beginning of each tour event -- something that none of the networks can claim. It's a branding thing, and it looked originally like TGC was playing a smart hand. But they mucked their high pair.

Why? I have no frigging idea, but I find it hard to believe that it is because of some strategic marketing plan to offer their satellite uplink time to allow another network to do a dress rehearsal for that network's weekend coverage.

And that's exactly what has been happening for over a month. Conspiracy or no, I'm simply saying there is a reason why. I don't believe it was part of the original programming plan, and we aren't hearing about it.

It's just my opinion, but I think Faldo is awful. Kelly is okay but just okay.
What ever happened to Peter Kessler. He could be the Jim Nantz of the Golf Channel.
I like all the others but they need someone else up front.
