Then he Hitler'd his bunker shot on the par 3 ( yes Tiger put it in there off the tee )...but come on.

Steve was terrible.

I only watched 1 early hole and a couple late holes (their match was long over by then). I saw Tiger hit a bad drive, Stricker hacked it as close to the green as he could, then Tiger hit a chip too far and gave a terrible read on the green. Or maybe Stricker hit a bad putt?!? Either way it was just as well they played bad and lost early, because they were gonna lose that match anyway and this way at least they're rested.

With his back/neck issue - if Stricker wasn't 100%, it would have been the honorable thing to do to just let Keegan play - I'm sure down deep, even Steve knew Keegan deserved it.     This could have been really easy - Stricker should have bowed out gracefully, let himself heal and let the more deserving player play - win win situation.    Ego's apparently got in the way ....

Keegan's probably watching at home, on the entire opposite side of the globe. An injured Striker probably still beats a severely jet-lagged Bradley.

I watched every minute of the telecast....Haven't been sleeping well, so hey why not. Tiger played ok. Steve was horrible. It didn't much matter as KJ and Adam were good.  The real story of day one was Kuchar and DJ coming back from the abyss to grab a half....That my international friends was heart wrenching.  Bads literally skied his 18th teeball....Bads played so well prior to 17/18.  Chokes a putt on 17 after he drained everything he looked at prior. And 18.....But my man Bubba.....His iron play was insane.

I agree Tiger played ok but Stricker was just horrible.Bubba hit some amazing iron shots but Webb drained everything he looked at. I also agree that the big story of the day was how Aron folded under pressure and how Dustin and Kuchar made them pay for there mistakes and ran out of there with a halved pt. The pairings are out for day two and it is going to be exciting.

Sorry, but you must have the wrong player or the wrong event.

Back to point though.  I hops Steve is physically ok.  But candidly that was not the Steve Striker accustom to seeing out there.  And rookie Webb...Yea he was clutch.  And even though Kuch DJ pulled out the half, Kuch did his best to hang on.  DJ was solid.

Wow! Couples could have paired up two guys from the gallery, and the worst they could have done is 9&8.

    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
